FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

JeffZ,

Children under 3 are free at all buffets where you can choose freely and at all other restaurant as long as they eat off of your plate. If you order anything for your son from the menu, then you will be charged for it.

Let me start off by apologizing if this has been asked already. I read through page 25 of this thread and spent too much time (dial up connection).

My three kids will be 11, 9 and 7. The oldest will be charged adult price for the meal package (34.99 per day) but will not eat from the adult menus. He is a plain food person, no sauces, spices or exotic ingrediants. Can he order from the kids menu in table service restaurant?

Please don't bash him for his preferences or us for his pickiness. We expose him to many different types of food. It is his vacation too.

Don't be shy about asking the waiter to modify the menu offering for your son. For example, ask hime to hold the sauce or seasoning on an item. Or, to make him an adult burger or plain pasta and cheese dish.

Any one know if you can get a turkey leg with CS credit?

Oooh, good question! I just looked it up, and Toluca Turkey Leg Co is listed as both a CS and a Snack place on the official list. :bounce: I don't know the name of the cart where Turkey Legs are sold in the MK to look it up, do you?

I'm thinking that as a snack you would only be able to get a drink there. But if you had extra CS you could get a leg and a drink, right?

From reading other posts, there MIGHT be some serious changes to the plan. No one has actually experienced it yet that I have read, but people have been talking to CMs and getting emails from Disney stating that the credits will NO LONGER BE POOLED, everyone has to use their own card (to keep adults from using the child credits), and if no child appetizers are available, children can't have adult appetizers. Some people are also reporting not being allowed desserts or appetizers that were "meant" for 2 people such as the samplers. Don't know if you could just use 2 "dessert" or "appetizer" credits if 2 people are dining to get those types of things.

On the Disneyworld website, so I will take as fact - there will also be changes for 2006, such as an increase in the price, Coral Reef is going to 1 credit, Wolfgang Puck is no longer available as counter service, and desserts will not be available at breakfast.

I am just really hoping they don't make too many more changes or get rid of the plan altogether, so many will be disappointed!!

I just posted this question seperately, but I'll ask it here too !! Can I pay for a counter service meal with a table service credit ? I have paid for a DMW Dining Plan for mid Aug.and I think that one night we just may be too tired to go for a sit down meal and perhaps would rather sit by the pool and use the food court, instead? Any ideas on that ???

I know when we went to the Yachtsman's steakhouse, DH and myself ordered the dessert sampler......it took 2 of our dessert from the meal plan.

What is the free dining plan I've been hearing about--when is/was it available--I can only find the stay, dine, play package on the website

The stay/dine/play package on the website IS the free dining plan, they're just not calling it "free dining".

I read on a much earlier post that the dining plan credits are good til midnight the day you checkout.

How can that be? If I *pay* for 5 nights for which I am staying, how can the 6th day include anything from that plan?

Can you please clarify for me? thanks alot.

I've been reading all of the great information related to the Disney Dining Plan. Just one quick question...

At the table service restaurants, is there a special menu as part of the plan or can we order from the regular menus?

Thanks in advance.
Have a Disney kind of day!

You can order off the regular menu at the vast majority of the restaurants. A couple of restaurants (Wolfgang Pucks, for instance) will only allow you to order certain things, but those restaurants are clearly indicated. You may or may not be able to order add-ons like lobster tail, or appitizers or desserts meant for 2 even if you have 2 people using their credits.

I hope I can help. The credits are good to Midnight the day you check out. When you pay for 5 nights you do so on the 6th day...

Example- If you stay 5 nights you will get 5 of each type of credits per person. So if you check in Oct 1st at 11am you can start using your credits right away. Your last night is the 5th so you will check out the morning of the 6th by 11 am, but your credits remain valid till midnight on the 6th. The same is true for your charging privlages, Disney will let you charge to the room key till midnight the day you check out, which is when the put the charge through. The 'old' length of stay passes also worked this way.

There is a lot of mention about the "Free" dining plan, but I have a question concerning the normal dining plan that you pay for. Is it possible to get an AAA rate just for your room and still pay for the disney dining plan. I thought I understood the answer to this question to be NO, but I wasn't sure if that was referring to the "Free" dining option.

Thanks

have2getaway- Yes you can add on the dining plan to a AAA rate reservation as long as you also buy MYW passes for all members of your party. It is a Package add on- a room plus tickets ='s a package. You can not add dining to a room only ressie.

I paid for my Disney Dining Plan Aug. 18-24, so now I'm interested in what the AAA rate for a room @ POP for those nites would be??? Thanks , if anyone knows that rate . :flower:

I don't know the rate, I do remember that prior to the free dining code I had a CRO quote and a AAA quote for the exact same stay and the AAA rate was exactly the same.... I think $77 a night but not sure.

More importantly... I didn't do the math, but, free dining starts on the 21st... did you try back to back ressies 18-20th w/paid dining and 21-24 with free? You would have to pay for 1 day passes with the second ressie to qualify for the free dining but I think you should still end up a wee bit ahead this way and you can save the 1 day MYW tickets for your next trip (as far as I know, you can) and then upgrade them... only problem would be if there was a fee to change the ressie...

Just a thought.
