As a big fan of the film I went on this ride (which I believe is near to being closed down).

Sadly, I was very much disappointed with it as it did not live up to my expectations. Perhaps this is just me, I do not know. It just completely bored me and had no effect at all.

Although, for me as a fan the highlight was touching Marty McFly's Delorean from the film.

I'm a HUGE BTTF fan, and 11 years ago I thought the ride was the best anywhere.

Now, a decade later, I'm not a fan of this ride anymore. Either my tastes in rides has changed, or this ride has worn out. It seems so rough, and just shakes you to death. The experience is not what it used to be.

I'll miss the ride, but times change, and updates to the parks are necessary.

By the time you read this, Back to the Future: The Ride will probably be closed for good. Like you folks, I am a huge fan of the movie trilogy.

I first rode BTTF in 1993, and at the that time the lines for it were astronomical (and there was no Express pass yet...). The ride was cutting-edge, the effects amazing. When you blasted through time or entered the coldness of prehistoric Hill Valley, there was an accompanying stream of dry ice smoke that completed the effect. Man, I loved that ride.

When I rode BTTF this past weekend, there was no smoke effect. This may sound like no big deal, but it kills the effect. Also of note was that fact that the lines were miniscule and the available cars were limited to two. Also, the flux capacitor on one of the eight-passenger DeLoreans was upside-down.

Someone once equated what has happened to this ride with what happens to a beloved family dog who has turned twelve years old. You still love the old scamp, but you know that he just isn't as able or as active as he one was. Maybe the time has come to say good bye to your beloved dog.

And now, I suppose, it is time to say goodbye to Back to the Future: The Ride. But don't remember the ride as the creaky, underappreciated, neck-snapping, neglected thing it has become. Remember it as the riders in the 1990's would: a thing of fun for all time.

I agree with what's already been said! It used to be great in the 90s, but it's so dated and rough now, I'm almost glad it's going :confused3

I rode it this past weekend and agree with all the previous reviews.
It has really aged poorly. They appeared to have not maintained it in recent years either. It shows that they knew it's end was near. I remember that a few years ago they were planning upgrades including a new digital projection system. Maybe these rumors were for the ride theme change. The film this past weekend was very degraded and blurry. The sound system was fuzzy and nearly unrecognizable. And I know that there was at least a smoke effect at the beginning and end that was effective. I hear on different posts on this site that the new ride should be running in early 2007. Looks like I'll have to renew my AP again. :furious: :teeth: :cool1: :thanks:

I rode BTTF for the first time in 92 and back then that was "THE RIDE," unfortunately time passes and simulator rides just don't have a lasting long time rideability as much as a rollercoasters have. For me it's not a must-do when i go to the parks anymore and I'm like the biggest fan of the movies, but I understand it probably needed to be changed, but I will miss it!

There have been rumours about 'The Simpsons' - not sure if this is confirmed or not.

It's unconfirmed, but the majority of the new ride is already complete--film, audio, sfx planned, new interior/exterior design. It just has to be installed.

Do they still have the "Space Shuttle" special effect photo location where you put your camera in a holder and it takes a picture of the Back to the Future Building as the Base of a "super imposed" Space Shuttle on the Launching Pad? You could stand on an "X" and your family can be in the photo too.
Will they be altering the Exterior of the Building?
There was also one in front of the Gory, Gruesome, Make-up Show that had a back drop of the Hollywood Sign of Hollywood Hills. Is it still there too?

The space shuttle trick is still there. The building exterior may be redone, but nobody--except the painters--know to what extent.
