I'm quoting a great thread by mitsguy2001 that lists out the categories of rooms on the Dream/Fantasy. I'm currently booked GTY in a Cat 8C. We are a family of 5. I'd like to know which categories are possible for us. In other words, I'm waiting for my room assignment and I'm impatient so I thought I'd scope out the options :rotfl2:

Obviously 8C sleeps 5. What about other 8 categories? I've never had a category 5, 6, 7 pull up when quoting cruises so do none of those sleep 5? Do each of the categories in 4 sleep 5 or only some of them?

The stateroom categories are sometimes confusing. I'm going to post what I know about the different stateroom categories on the Dream / Fantasy and have others fill in what I'm missing. I'm posting this, both because I'm curious, and also because it can be a helpful resource to somebody choosing which category to book.

Standard Inside (11)
11C - Deck 2
11B - Decks 5, 6, 7
11A - Decks 8, 9, 10

Deluxe Inside (10)
10A - Decks 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Deluxe Oceanview (9)
9D - Obstructed View - Forward (including corners) on Deck 6, Forward corners only on Decks 7 and 8
9C - Obstructed View, not sure how it differs from 9D; maybe less obstructed. Forward (not corners) on Decks 7 and 8
9B - Deck 2
9A - Decks 5, 6, 7, 8

Family Oceanview (8)
8D - Decks 5 and 6
8C - Decks 7 and 8
8B - Deck 9
8A - Bigger than the other 8's, and have 2 portholes. Some are "mini-suites" and some have an "open floor plan". Decks 5 and 6

Deluxe Verandah (5, 6, 7)
7A - Disney calls these Navigator's Verandahs, but they are really just regular verandahs with an obstructed view or an undersized verandah. The real navigator's verandahs are only on the Magic and Wonder. Decks 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

6B - Whitewall, Decks 5, 6, 7 Aft
6A - Whitewall, Decks 8, 9 Aft
(On the Dream and Fantasy, the whitewalls are very small and don't really obstruct the view the way they do on the Magic and Wonder)

5E - Oversized balconies, facing aft with whitewall. Decks 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, all facing aft, including corners
5D - Plexiglass, Deck 6
5C - Plexiglass, Deck 7
5B - Plexiglass, Deck 8
5A - Plexiglass, Decks 9 and 10

Family Verandah (4), All have plexiglass and are not obstructed. Only Cat. 4D, 4C, 4B, and 4A are actually larger
4E - Deck 5 (Oversized verandah, but room is the same size as Cat. 5x)
4D - Deck 6
4C - Deck 7
4B - Deck 8
4A - Decks 9 and 10

Concierge (V, T, R)
V - Concierge Family Verandah - Decks 11 and 12 (no Magic / Wonder equivalent)
T - Concierge 1 Bedroom Suite - Decks 11 and 12 (Former Cat. 3)
R - Concierge Royal Suite - Deck 12 (Former Cat. 1)

Cat. S is used only on the Magic and Wonder. (Former Cat. 2)

Am I correct about everything? If someone can answer the questions I had, and can correct any mistakes I made, this can be a good resource for people who are booking a cruise.

We were on the Fantasy a couple of weeks ago in a Cat 4B on Deck 8.
It slept 5 - queen bed, two bunks, and a pull down Murphy bed.

Only categories 4 and 8 can sleep 5 passengers, though not every stateroom in those categories. I'm not sure if the A-B-C-D-E letter makes a difference.

Enjoy your cruise!

We've done 2 cruises, each in a Cat4B for our family of 5. Family Oceanview w/verandah. First cruise we were on Deck 8, this last one on deck 6. Like someone else mentioned- Queen, and 3 twins- sofa, pull down bunk, Murphey bed.

Drawer space is limited for a family of 5- there are 6 drawers that fit 2 adult swimsuits and undergarments (including socks) for one person for 7 nights. That's pretty much all. There are plenty of hangers though, and the bed is high enough for luggage to slide under and out easily. If you are not a light packer, this is something to keep in mind.

Lisa, all I did was share the link. You get credit for all the work and info it includes! Thank you!

I don't think that any Cat. 4E rooms can sleep 5, since unlike the other Cat. 4x rooms, they are the same size as the Cat. 5x rooms but with a larger verandah.

Thanks for the clarification! That's also why I posted the link to the Configuration thread, so OP could check.

Also, strangely, according to that list, none of the Cat. 8A rooms sleep 5, even though they are bigger than the other Cat. 8x rooms. I wonder why.

We were in 2 4A rooms on the Fantasy. One slept 5 and one slept 4.

I believe all 8A staterooms on the Dream/Fantasy were originally designed to be handicapped accessible, hence the larger/different configuration. I can't speak for why they don't have any that sleep 5 other than that 5th bed; possibly it would have been in the way of a wheelchair maneuvering in the room.

Not all of them were intended to be HA. I believe the originally specified HA rooms are notated on the list as well. None of them have split baths. The ones with wall dividers are understandable for not having a 5th berth, though they only have 3. Since there are poles in the center of some of those rooms, I would guess the reason is due to structural limitations in that section of the ship.

I seem to remember reading that there are 2 different types of Cat. 8A rooms: mini-suites and open floor plan. I don't think that either of them sleep 5 people, even though they are large rooms.

It's noted on my thread of rooms which have the walls & which are open with the poles. As both lanejudy and I said, none of the 8As sleep 5 and some only sleep 3.

Yes, and you have an interesting point that it could possibly be due to structural constraints.

Thanks for all of the help! I'm going back to the other link now to check out the individual rooms!
