Today’s Navigator

We slept in a little later today and didn't get up until 7:00. After the usual morning rituals we went up to Cabanas for breakfast and then went our separate ways for a wander around the ship.

These are the bags of Random Selection Process merchandise lined up ready for people to collect later in the day.

This is an original oil painting that I would have loved to buy. Anybody got any idea how much it cost?

This was ‘our’ booth in La Piazza that we used to sit in every night.

By 10:00 we were approaching Grand Cayman where the Disney Magic was waiting for us, she having arrived at 7:30 this morning.

At 10:30 it was time to go down to Sea Chest to see what maiden voyage merchandise we had received in the Random Selection Process. We were actually very lucky and got everything bar one item that we had requested.

This is a piece of steel cut from that used to build the Fantasy.

This is a set of 4 medallions representing the 4 ships.

We took the stuff back to the cabin, I sorted out some fish extender bags and then we went ashore for a while, where we bought a sea shell Christmas decoration and a fridge magnet.

It was a bit hot to just wander around so we went back to the ship and up to the V8 Cafe for lunch - I had bratwurst with fries and Dad had a cheese burger with fries.

Once we had eaten I went downstairs and started delivering my fish extender presents - I did it in batches, forward section first, then midship, then aft and lastly our deck. By the time I had done that I was gasping for a drink so we went down to O'Gills Pub where I had a chilled leprechaun and Dad had a Celtic twilight.

As we were drinking our drinks a pub quiz started so we joined in with that and got a just about respectable score of 10 out of 23. By the time the pub quiz finished it was 4:30 so we went back up to the cabin to relax for a while before it was time to go down for tonight's show.

Just after 5:00 we went down to the DVC desk and picked up our on board gift for DVC members.

Snow White and Dopey were in the atrium so I grabbed a quick picture.

We then made our way to the Walt Disney Theater for tonight's act - Larry the Cable Guy. The show was introduced by John Lasseter of Pixar and, for those who don't know, Larry the Cable Guy is a stand-up comedian who was also the voice of Mater in Cars. He was OK but a lot of the act was geared towards American audiences so a lot of the humour passed us by.

After the show we went down to La Piazza where Dad had his usual and I had a Mercutio. We then went down to dinner, which tonight was in Animators Palate.

I had smoked salmon tartare, followed by baked potato soup and chicken, while Dad had risotto, baked potato soup and chicken. We both had the cookies and cream sundae to finish.

Whereas on the Magic and Wonder there is a show in AP where the restaurant changes colour, on the Fantasy there is a show similar to Turtle Talk with Crush in EPCOT where Crush talks to the audience. There must be some high technology behind it but it looks great in the restaurant setting.

After dinner we went back to La Piazza for another Escalus and Mercutio. I also had a present for two of the servers in there who had been looking after us for the past couple of nights - Vendy from the Czech Republic and Anja from Denmark. I had had some postcards printed to give out as part of my fish extenders and since I had a few spare I had written this message on the back of them - "Thank you for helping to make our 'Fantasy' cruise a reality". Both ladies seemed really happy and I think a simple gesture had made both of their nights.

When we got back to the stateroom there was another present from Disney – luggage tags this time.

By 11:15 we were in bed ready for a day in Cozumel tomorrow.

Day 6

I'm loving how quickly you're posting your trip reports David ::yes:: Yet more lovely photos, and I love all your merchandise too, especially the Minnie statue :thumbsup2

How cool to see the Magic a few times over your cruise, I think Paul & I would've thought all our Christmas's had come at once if we were ever docked next to another Disney ship

Can't wait for the next installment :)

Wow David, the Fantasy looks beautiful. How lovely that you got to see the Magic on your approach into Grand Cayman too. You got some fantastic MV merchandise too - well done :thumbsup2

I loved that oil painting, bet it was expensive though ;)

Great day :thumbsup2 I'm very impressed with all the gifts you keep getting!

I bet you needed an extra bag David for all your gifts :thumbsup2

Bet the painting was $$$$$$$$$$$$ :scared1:

Fabulous day David, great to see the Magic as well, lovely gifts you keep getting. Did you have a balcony room, if so did you find you used it much??:goodvibes:goodvibes

we did have a balcony but we didn't use it that much, although it was nice to stand out on when we were coming into or going out of a port rather than being up on deck. We like to have one though so that we have the option of using it and it also makes the cabin look bigger.

What a fab day, it is so god to get on with fellow diners, I am sure the ladies loved the kind gesture we gals do set out for such things...men's tend to miss this totally:goodvibes good for you and your Dad and more lavish gifts to take home

A lovely day. Do you have any preference over the new Animator's Palate or the ones on the older ships?

I much preferred the one on the Fantasy. We've only done the one Disney cruise before and I remember being very underwhelmed by the 'show' in Animators Palate - we didn't seem to get the full change from black and white to colour that everybody raves about (other than the servers waistcoats which they just turn inside out anyway).

I've just read the instalment with the video link and can see why you say that now! :goodvibes

Brilliant day at Grand Cayman and aboard the ship! Ohhhh looky at all the merchandise you scored!
