Fantasy or Destiny?

This is exactly what we are doing next week! I haven't sailed from FLL before, but it seems easy.
I would love to hear how it ends up going for you! Our trip is still far away, but I love the planning (and living vicariously through people going sooner...).

how did the FLL rental car to WDW process go? Did you return it to MCO after WDW? I'm trying to get my ducks in a row here, every time I've done WDW/FLL(or Miami) for a cruise combo, it's been from WDW south the morning of, and also with a friend who lives in FL so they already had a car. I paid for gas and parking and thus didn't have to drive. Now I'm torn on a rental from FLL (the actual airport, I'm assuming??) or Brightline and uber to WDW...but...any suggestions welcome, and real world experience!

We did, yes. We did get dinged with a fee for picking it up in one spot and delivering to another which we hadn't had happen on prior trips when it was just between Port Canaveral and MCO. I guess FLL - yes the airport - is just a wee bit too far for them to waive it. We also got dinged because they did not mark mileage on our paperwork before we left with the car... so they thought we alone had put way more miles on it than we did and would not budge. Lesson learned..! Usually our rentals have unlimited mileage but that was also not an option for us. We expected to pay, but nowhere near what they ended up charging as it was way over actual miles. VERY frustrating in both cases..!

In 2024, we took an Uber to the Brightline station and then picked up a rental car at MCO. It actually didn't save us money (as opposed to one way rental) per se, but my husband really didn't want to drive 2-2 1/2 hours to WDW. We plan on using Brightline for future cruises out of PE unless the price difference is significant.

Yeah, taking Brightline would have cost more for us as well. Thankfully my husband doesn't mind driving, but if he did, we absolutely would have taken the train!

Gross! Thank you for the information! We have had some absolute horror stories with rental vehicles over the year and my husband and I are complete freaks about recording everything, doing a walkaround video, etc because we trust no one. Still sounds like you couldnt win :(
