Fantasy June 29, 2013 Meet Up!

Did you end up switching categories too or is it just a different location?

DS & DH have been scouring the web for pictures of the Fantasy and every night before bed they check for updates. I don't think DS understands it's almost 2 years away!

It is the same category (still a 4B). It is just farther back. The other room was the first 4 room on that deck and it was right off the elevator. The room report that I saw from the Dream said it didn't have the murphy bed and was kind of noisy. So when I saw that the room that we originally wanted was available, I just asked the TA to move us. I guess someone had it on hold that first day and then released it. So yea... I'm very happy :banana:

I've been watching the Fantasy progress all along too. Our all-time favorite character is Dumbo and when we saw that he would be on the back of the ship, we decided it was fate that we would have to cruise on the Fantasy, LOL. But I'm trying to put this one farther back in my mind and get the kids all excited for our MR trip next April first. But that is hard to do when I am just as excited as the kids :cool1::cool1:

Geez - just for fun today I went looking to see what rooms were available for a family of five....only oceanview staterooms with veranda and concierge...minimum $10,500 and up! Wow! Can't believe it within the first week of bookings!

We moved a 2012 Fantasy cruise to this one in 2013. Sorta bummed that we have to wait another year to be on this ship, but really excited about being on board for the 4th of July. Hoping for a special fireworks show or something like that. Not sure if anyone knows whether or not that has been done in the past. We will be on a sea day, so it is possible ... right?

Yes, this cruise is a LONG way out. We booked our first DCL cruise only 6 months out, so this is going to seem like a lifetime away. Fortunately we'll be sailing on the Wonder in September of 2012, so it might not feel so bad.

Oh, we are both in So. Cal. Are you close to Disneyland? Maybe we can do a pre-cruise meet up sometime :)

We will be on the Wonder on April 8th (Easter day). I started reading the navigators the other day and I'm getting even more excited about that one (and it helps that it is s much closer). But I was sitting with my DS the other night while he was reading one of his Titanic books and we realized that we will be arriving back in San Pedro on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of Titanic. DS thought that was pretty cool, but a little sad too.

Check into the Queen Mary tours if DS likes the idea of the Titanic. It has been a little while since we've done it but the last time we did they gave us each a card when we boarded and it had a name and short bio. Then, near the end, it told us whether we survived or not. You can tour the radio room, hospital area and learn aobut the use of the ship as a troop transport. Don't know if you've done that or not, since you are from the area.

We do live near DL and do visit somewhat often. Love Disney ... but didn't have the best experience on the Wonder recently. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't live up to our very high expectations. We will be on it again in September of 2012 but it was because of that experience that we moved our Fantasy cruise out to 2013 and are sailing Royal Caribbean for our 25th anniversary cruise in June of 2012. I'm sure you will have a great time on your upcoming April trip. You can do a search in the trip reports section for threads started by cyclenut to find out more about our experience if you are interested.

We have a sort of special circumstance here that I'm not really going to get into, but suffice to say that I expect we'll become a lot more excited about this cruise once we get to the year 2013. We won't be very popular in our house if our kids find out my DW and I are taking another Disney cruise without them ... so we're not telling them anything about it.

Dh and I are waiting to see what they release for the Wonder in 2013 (and beyond) because we are thinking it is about time we did a cruise on our own too. We both said that we would love one of the Pacific Coast cruises (I really want to visit the Disney Museum in SF). Our kids will have a problem with that too, but considering they have move cruises under their belt than DH does...they really can't complain :rotfl2:

Oh Cool.....this is my 1000th post ;-)

That would be so much fun! DH & I took a grown-ups only trip to WDW for our anniversary this year and it was so much fun! It is nice going slower and taking it all in. I am also doing a cruise with some of my girlfriends this February (on Carnival). I cannot wait for it! We talk about it almost daily. Of course it will be sad to pull into Nassau and see the DCL ships and not be on them

Just put down our deposit today! We're very excited - this trip is meant to be a last hurrah after our eldest DD's high school graduation.

Welcome to the group!!! We would love a DL meetup sometime :) We are heading to the parks a week from Saturday to check out the holiday stuff (I love DL at Christmas).

My DD will be 15 when we sail also!! DS already has a buddy on the cruise but DD doesn't so I'm sure she would love to meet some girls her age before we go (she is a lot more shy than my DS too).

Our next visit to DL won't be until the day after (the 20th), but it would be nice to meetup beforehand to get the girls accquainted. My DD2 is anything but shy, and she loves meeting new people. My eldest is a lot more reserved; we had a hard time getting her out of the room on our last cruise.

Welcome onboard! Already a few people from SCal! I smell a DisMeet in your future folks!

Well, it's been kinda quiet on here lately. I hope it's because we are all getting super excited for our holiday season!

Anyone have exciting plans for Turkey Day?

Anyone hitting the Black friday sales?

We get to make ADRs for our May 2012 trip starting tomorrow, so we have been fine tuning our dining choices! This time we are going to fit in the Spirit of Aloha Dinner show! I am so excited!:stitch:

We are also hoping to hit the Star Wars weekends.:darth: We haven't been since DS 8 was less than 2!

WOO HOO on ADR time!!! I remember how much fun I had planning out our WDW trip last year.

No big travel plans for Thanksgiving this year, just heading to my Mom's who lives in the same city as us. But I am looking forward to a little Black Friday shopping with DD. Hopefully there is nothing that I really "need" so that it isn't stressful. I just like reading the sale ads on Thursday and planning which stores to visit in the wee early morning hours on Friday :cool1:

We spent yesterday at DLR getting all into the holiday spirit. We had a beautiful day (weather-wise), nice and cool to get into the Christmas mood but clear enough for the fireworks and snow on Main Street. I also managed to ditch my family for an hour or so to do some Disney Christmas shopping ;)

Turkey Day will be spent at Knott's Berry Farm for our family. We'll enjoy the Knott's Thanksgiving Day buffet, roam around the park and catch a few rides and then we'll watch my two youngest (DD16 and DD18) as they perform in the Knott's Christmas parade and the Knott's Calico Christmas Tree lighting with Snoopy and the gang. Black Friday has my youngest back at Knott's for the parade again and performing at an outdoor mall to kick off their Christmas shopping season with a tree lighting ceremony while DD18 heads off to work at BABWS in DTD.

This is what my kids do during Christmas, for several years now. The group they are with provides the cast for Knott's and they perform a Christmas program at private parties and malls through the Holiday season. It makes for an incredibly busy schedule, but we enjoy it ... and they do too.

I hope everyone had a great Turkey Day! We booked all our dining for our upcoming WDW trip. We were able to get everything we wanted!

I braved the Black friday sales and was able to nab some good deals. It was a lot crazier than I have ever seen it though... not sure I will be up for it again next year, expecially if they open on Thanksgiving again

Very Cool!!!! I heard them advertising the Knott's Christmas Parade on the radio and was thinking about your post :thumbsup2
I hope everything went well last weekend.

I decided I kind of liked starting at midnight (even though I thought that I wouldn't). It was probably easier than sleeping for a few hours and then having to get up and get ready all over again, LOL. I just headed out about 1 am and got home about 5 am (then went to bed, LOL). I got a few things that I wanted so it was good :) I did leave DD at home though since I didn't think she would be able to handle the all night thing (I didn't want her begging me to take her home at 2 am, LOL).

Congrats on getting all your Dining plans worked out :thumbsup2

The feast at Knott's on Thanksgiving was amazing. For main dishes they had Prime Rib, Ham, Turkey, Fried Chicken, Tamales, Vegetable Lasagna, Menuedo and an Omlet bar. They had plenty of sides include the staples of stuffing, mashed potatos and deviled eggs. The desert choices were incredible with carrot cake, cheese cake, boysenberry pie, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, cookies, pasteries, tuxedo cake and more. Champagne was offered and drinks were included in the price of about $36 per head.

I am uploading a few pictures that I will post later of the parade and the Calico Tree Lighting, both of which run through Christmas. The parade runs through New Year's Day.

We had a great time. The park was crowded but it really wasn't horrible. We did get to take in the Knott's Birdcage Theater "A Christmas Carol" while we were there. It is a shorter, one act, version of the full Dickens classic that is done very well. It reminds you of what live theater must have been like many years ago.

If you live here in SoCal I really do suggest you try and find some time to visit Knott's for Christmas. They offer all sorts of specials this time of year include Police and Fire admission, Toys for Tots admission and I think some other discounts too.
