Fantasy January 23, 2016- STAR WARS

Hi, happy to join the thread. We are Tiffany, DH Mike, DM Suzie, and DF John. The parents belong to me. :love1: This is DH's first cruise, my second, and parents 3rd. We've never done FE before, and I'm not sure if we will for this one, but I think they're cute and want to learn more so I can decide.

I'm super excited about Star Wars day. Already planning awesome costumes for the whole family. Also excited about doing a new itinerary, I did Eastern Caribbean with the parents last time, and they've also done Alaska. Excited to do a little booze and cruise too :crazy:. I don't really drink around my parents, but having my husband around means vacation=drinking. Nothing crazy, but he wants to try all 11 bars in 7 days. And I see some nightly drinks I want to try as well. Oh and....the food. DH says the natural state of a Tiffy is hunger, and I LOVE food, so I can't wait for dining. Working on getting in shape for my costume, so I'm looking forward to making serious use of the gym! Yay! Super magical cruise, here we come!pixiedust:

Welcome Tiffany and all the other new people (thanks, again, DIS for not sending me emails... and thanks, work, for keeping me busy?!)! I'll get all of you who gave info added to our roll call!

We're ALMOST six months away! Tomorrow's the half year mark!!

I am creating a special autograph book and need to know how many to have made. It will be at least one per stateroom. I wouldn't want arguments among family members so I am asking who would want one. I don't use books anymore; I use items specific to a character to get their autograph on, i.e. a hip quiver for Merida, a model of her wishing well for Snow White...
I forgot to mention that I am in the first group of 15 for FE.

Thanks new virtual friends. Looking forward to more planning chatter! Excited about the 6 month mark! Decided we will be doing FEs for both rooms. Once I get to my 10 posts I'll be sending my pm:P

Hi all!

For those that have sailed DCL before a couple of questions about rotational dining.
1. When do we find out the rotation?
2. Does every restaurant have a different style of food or is every menu the same and we're just eating it in different venues?
2a. Is the pirate night menu the same in each venue? I'm guessing this would likely apply to the Star Wars menu

Thanks for any info, I'm starting to think about what night I would want to do Palo and wouldn't want to miss out on a special menu.

1. When you get onboard
2. Nope! Each restaurant has a theme so, for example, each restaurant prepares the same menu three times per cruise.
2a. I'm... less positive on this. I think it's "not exactly" - last time, we were in AP and I know we had a significantly reduced menu but I'm not sure if it was the same in the other two.

You can always request a specific rotation, though I'm not sure they're known yet, for the Star Wars Day at Sea cruises (but, well, we have three sea days so it's probably not impossible to guess!) before you get on board. You can also request a change once ON board - on our first DCL cruise, our friends didn't have the same dining as us, despite having linked reservations but they were able to fix it almost immediately after we walked up to request a change.

1.You find out your dining rotation when you get on board, although you may request a specific one ahead of time by contacting DCL. Not sure if there's a specific time frame on this. There will be an opportunity to try and change your rotation once on board as well.

2 and 2a. Each dining room has a specific menu, which on a 7 nighter you will probably have once. Pirate menu is the same shipwide, except for adult only dining. This is why some people like to do Palo or Remy on these nights. Personally I love pirate night too much to give it up. There will be other different menu nights like prince/princess, see ya real soon, golden mickeys (not on this ship though? My first time on the Fantasy...) and I think these are more location dependent? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. However, you can always order something from another restaurant if you loved it and don't see anything else you want. I expect the menu for Star Wars will be shipwide.

HTH, I will need to figure out what night we do Palo as well. I'm thinking whichever night we have AP and they do the Crush show...

thanks TiffyRose and sarbah77, since this is our first Disney cruise we wouldn't want to miss pirate night or the Star Wars menu. Do they only do the Crush once in AP? Sigh, so many things to see and so little time. I guess we'll make the reservations when we can and worry about changing (if need be) when we board.

toni

Yes, Crush is only in AP. It's very similar to the Turtle Talk with Crush show which you can see in DCA on the west coast or I think Seas at Epcot. I've seen it a couple of times. It's cute, but if there's anything I'd want to give up, that would be it. I'm focused on our pre-cruise activities, getting them nailed down, and figuring out our ADRs first. Then I will worry about dining rotation and Palo.

We're actually doing Universal precruise. Gotta see Harry Potter World. My mom wants to ride It's A Small World, so we'll add a day at Magic Kingdom, that way I get to pick up some ears!

That's pretty much what I'd like to do. Figuring out the scheduling and the money are the only things I'm working on now....we haven't seen new FL in MK, we love Epcot, and I want to do both sides of HP at Universal. I mean, can you really go there and NOT ride the Hogwarts express? Must...convince...DH....

We're doing NO PLANS.

Can you even imagine?

My husband is a semi-reluctant Disney fan soooo he's announced NO PARKS for January (we were... just there in January). That said, there's plenty to do on Disney property without going into one of the four parks, so it'll be fine. I did ask him if he wanted to go to Universal and that was a more adamant "no!"

But I have our airfare, our hotel, and a car rental (or two - I'm indecisive!) lined up.

++++

What does everyone else have planned between now and then?

-Husband is off to GenCon next week

-August 12 is our 15th wedding anniversary, so we're spending the day at Cedar Park (roller coaster capital of the world!)

-early September, we're going to a (small) music festival in Atlanta

-mid-October, I'm going to a knitting festival in upstate NY and there may be a wedding the following week

-Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's

Plus, as music fans, there are a boatload of concerts for us this fall, so we'll be busy!

My ex is a non-Disney person. She still doesn't understand my fascination with all things Disney.

Cedar Park is that like Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio?

Between now and then, let us ponder...7/28 - 8/3 one day at Saratoga Springs/MK (flt on 28th too late to make ship)then onto DCL 5 night cruise;

8/12 Happy Anniversary you 2.party:

8/24 DVC member cruise;:beach:

9/14 -21 AK Kidani Village and MNSSHP as King Fergus followed by DCL Halloween Cruise again K.F and my usual pirate costume; :hmghost:Novemeber: Vacaville for Thanksgiving and early Christmas with my kids and grands;
1/23 well you know what this is.:chewy::darth:

Did I overdo the GIFs?

I would rather have my brother back than the inheritance.:sad:

Aww, mschreib13...while of course you'd rather have your brother back, I'm sure he'd be happy you are using the legacy he left you to do something you love, to spend time with your family, and to bring joy to others. I'm jealous of the people in your FE group and the awesome gifts they'll be getting from you.

Our trip would not have been possible without my grandmother's passing and what she left my mom. Her last years she was very much locked in her body, and now she is free. While I wish we had her back and whole, I'm sure she is happy that we are using her gift as a family to spend time together.

Thanks for the uplift.

I'm with TiffyRose - at least you have the opportunity to have some wonderful times/make great memories, thanks to your brother!

GenCon! We'll be there all 4 days!

He leaves on Wednesday and will be back late on Sunday! He's doing mostly Pathfinder Society stuff.

Is this where I also note our elderly ailing cat is currently on three antibiotics a day (plus daily prednisone and daily anti-nausea), making her tummy upset so she feels eating is optional? And our central AC unit isn't working properly? I DON'T WANNA DO THIS ON MY OWN!

I'm on the FE group list for the 2nd half. I noticed the list is at 31 right now (I'm assuming we are 15 and under as far as our group). Is the 2nd just full now? (I thought it said 15 cabins per group)I just want to know so I can finalize get purchases.

Sorry for the confusion yes the second reason group filled up this morning and a 3rd group was started. I was in the process of converting the 2nd groups list this morning so I could post it when DS woke up. And since he loves hitting the keys on the laptop I had to put it away. I hope have some time tonight to get the list posted. If not it will be up tomorrow for sure.
