Fantasy in the Sky video

As you may have read, Fantasy in the Sky will be the firework show beginning in September. Below is a link to a video of Fantasy in the Sky fireworks back in 2015. I'm assuming this is the same version that will be showing at DL now that Disneyland Forever has been (unfortunately) cancelled.

There are some good fireworks and music for the time allotted for the show. BUT, the big problem is the time allotted: 4 minutes!!!! Yeah, you read right. A 4 minute firework show. I've always thought of Disney as good storytellers, but it's hard to tell a story in 4 minutes. Disney should definitely work to double the show time just to get it in the same ballpark as any other night time show they've had.

My personal opinion after watching the video: it's good but it's on the cheap. Don't wait around on Main Street for an hour to catch this short fireworks show. Agree or disagree?

That makes it pretty clear what Disney's priority was here.

I'm guessing that if they thought they could get away with no night parade and no fireworks at all for a while, they probably would.

According to the time stamps on my photos last year, DF ran just over 14 minutes.

14 minutes sounds about right. 4 minutes, not so much. There is no indication that video is of the entire show.

The Fantasy in the Sky that showed in 2015 was, in fact, between 4 and 5 minutes long. It's not a mistake. The video may be missing 10-30 seconds, but that's it. I think in the past it was a bit longer, but I'm not sure. Disneyland Forever was much longer. But...at the risk of being flamed, I actually think I liked Fantasy in the Sky better, only because the focus was on the fireworks and not the projections. I watched the debut of Disneyland Forever and it is beautiful and magical, but I spoke with a few other people that night that felt it wasn't the best fireworks show. Many of the fireworks themselves were not that special. To me, a fireworks show should be about what's in the sky, not what's right in front of you. I prefer Believe or Remember, but it is what it is. Obviously Disney had to cut costs and this was an easy way to do it. I'm hoping they've increased the length for the latest run, but who knows?

I can see fireworks bursts anywhere on the 4th of July for free. For me the castle is what makes Disney fireworks special.

I'm also disappointed with the short show that is basically just fireworks with music. I really liked some of the other DL fireworks shows that truly incorporated a story and were much more "fantastical"!

Yeah, same here. They're not really telling a story. They're just giving us a recap of the day. "Here's some music you heard. Here's some fireworks to go along with it. G'nite."

Chances are I won't see this when I'm down during the beginning of Christmas season. But I may see it in March. Hoping that Disney can do better.

This reminds me of the "Happiness on High" from the Tokyo parks. As totally over-the-top amazing everything else is there, the fireworks show (same one for both parks) is absolutely nothing special. At least at DL this is likely just a placeholder while they retool. In Tokyo that is all they get for fireworks. Well, I guess they have to have ONE thing that's not better than the US parks (and it'd be the only one too).

They better have Believe running. One of the reasons I try to book at Christmas time is because they run Believe every night (unless there's a breeze in the wrong direction), not just the weekends. And since they're having the special Halloween fireworks in October, I have to believe we'll see Believe during Christmas. .... I hope.

Wasn't Fantasy in the Sky what they were running before temporarily due to the fact the castle wasn't available for a proper fireworks show when they were gearing up for the 60th? It was meant to be a bit of a holdover while things got transitioned to the 60th. Could be the same thing while they get things configured for Halloween then christmas fireworks respectively.

4-5 mins?! WHAT?!! Wow. On the upside side- no need to wait around for good spots for that show. On the downside- I will NEVER be able to time BTMRR right in order to see the fireworks while riding.

Sorry. I agree it was an amazing show. We only saw it the one time last fall. I sure wish we had seen it a second time. Sigh.

And LOL on trying to time BTMRR with the fireworks. You're right. Those odds really did just take a nosedive.

I'm still holding out hope Believe will be back in November when we visit, but I had great hopes of seeing PTN again, and those have been dashed now too.

Oh yes, it is most definitely a 4-5 minute show. It was incredibly underwhelming compared to Disneyland Forever, Remember!, and Believe. We stood in Fronteirland to watch them as we were passing by one night last spring when we were there. Definitely not a show to camp out for. I'm pretty sure the Fantasy in the Sky show has been around for awhile, they just play it during "off-season" (think late winter and spring).

I'm going to miss Disneyland Forever!!

Not that Youtube is a 100% reputable source, if you search there, all the videos of it are 4-5 minutes, meaning, in my mind, that the time is likely 4-5 minutes. Otherwise, why would 10 different people edit their videos down to the same time?

Not that Youtube is a 100% reputable source, if you search there, all the videos of it are 4-5 minutes, meaning, in my mind, that the time is likely 4-5 minutes. Otherwise, why would 10 different people edit their videos down to the same time?

I saw this show in March 2015 and it was most definitely 4-5 minutes. But, I saw it over by ROA because we stayed there to watch after F!. It may have been nicer to watch it over by the castle, but from where were it was definitely underwhelming and when it was over we looked at each other like, "that was IT?"
