We were on the Dream last October. I have a teenage son, and he never said a word about the decor, although he is OVER posing for pictures with the characters (at WDW too -- so now I just let him have the camera and he's happy as a clam).
As for the restaurants, he was just happy to be on his first cruise, and LOVED that he could have as much food as he wanted -- the first time he went to the quick service by the pool he said "You mean we don't have to pay?!" At dinner, he discovered that if he didn't like something, our server would bring him something else to try; and if he DID like it, they would bring him MORE! (He ended up having at least two desserts every night after he figured that out!) We went to WDW for 4 days after the cruise, and he was bummed about having to get back into the habbit of only getting one of everything (and not being able to switch if he didn't like it!)
