Ahem......FE gifts trump pirate pants.....understood????

:cool2:

Yeah, yeah. Don't get your knickers in a knot. They'll get done. We got PLENTY of time. Like what . . . ELEVEN DAYS!?!?!?! OH NOES!:crazy:

Hi Jenny! From what I understand, depending on the size of the weather patterns, the Captain can actually navigate around bad weather in some cases. If it's not a massive storm cell, on sea days and in the evening, the crew has some control (within limits) of where the ship can be located and can often avoid minor summer storms. In port and with regards to large storms it's a different issue, though I've read about successes in hiding the ship on the leeward side of islands even during hurricane season. I think some showers are unavoidable, but I agree, let's hope things come together for a great fireworks show! pixiedust:

I saw the rain stuff too, but when I looked at the radar, there was nothing there or even in the vicinity of our ports... Here's to hoping they're just "pop up" showers here and there ;)

Boys are downstairs singing away. Their talent show is today (3 shows-- 2 for the school and one tonight for the parents). This is their first year doing it and they are singing Seize the Day from Disney's Newsies :) They're even dressed like little newsies-- paperboy caps and lyrics pasted to the backs of folded newspapers :) I'm a pretty proud (but nervous!) momma!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!!

Donaldsgal:
I wish you saw me read your post as I had to stifle a laugh (am at work): it gave me an amusing memory. There is a website out there that actually gives predictions for wave heights. Since it has been maybe a decade since I used, I don't have a clue the name. But I would study it frequently in the weeks before a cruise and worry over the prediction moving higher...

About 4 cruises back we did what WDWliving the dream says: and we bought 5 tiny disposable rain ponchos. We used them on that trip, but the ponchos we got for 3 cruises ago are packed for this one: no need since. So here's to keeping the trend intact: rain rain go away!!

 I was thought about the weather too then decided it didn't matter cuz it's warm rain anyway and if we get soaked, we'll dry off pretty quickly afterwards with the temps we'll be having. Will be bringing our ponchos but if it rains, we gonna have fun splashing in it! :cool1:

Jenny..... What is that song that Pumba and Temon sing in The Lion King? That is my family's quote for this cruise. I will let you borrow it. NO WORRIES! As far as Immune Systems go I am at a disadvantage too! My meds suppress the immune system and it makes me a little shakey getting on a cruise, but......... as the song says...... no really I cant spell it so just sing it in your head!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! I know I sound like a worrywart and a pessimist (things that aren't entirely foreign to me, sadly, and things I have to fight against). A factor in my slight discouragement is that I got a new camera recently, and there's nothing like a beach (or parks) picture with a lovely blue sky in the background. :cloud9: I can deal with rain showers throughout the day, and, frankly, I can deal with rain showers all day long because, after all, I'm at Disney World/on a Disney Cruise! :cool1: I am hoping for good weather, but I also plan to have a good time regardless. :)

CHRIS!!! Please say some prayers that he is selected!! OMG the OLYMPICS! Even if he dosn't get chosen, just to be on the list of the top 4?!?!?! WOW! Lets hope we get to spend a few days this summer in LONDON AT THE OLYPMICS!! So proud of him!!! :cool1::banana::scared1:popcorn:::rolleyes1:yay:

How fabulous!! Congrats!! :cool1:

Someone asked about FL weather (I have only lived here 4.5 years). My basic philosophy in life is to Never Worry about the things you cannot control :confused3 (yes, weather falls under this category) and Don't Sweat the little things...of course, only you can decide what constitutes big vs little and it is relative...that said, I have been on cruises where the winds were high enough that we were unable to tender; :worried: unable to dock at CC (my first Disney Dream cruise :( ); ships rock'n'rolling, etc. Weather cannot be predicted this far out, so we just play this by ear! The captains do everything that they can to keep us away from big storms and to give us the smoothest sail that they can. And, no one has ever melted with a little rain, right? :rolleyes2 We are going to have a fabulous cruise with a brand new ship to explore and lots of new friends to meet!! Seasickness :headache: can be annoying, but the meds/patches, etc work fairly well for most. Illness  can happen, but Disney is really great with reminding people about handwashing (THE most preventative thing you can do) and they hand out wipes as you enter every dining area for every meal. If you forget something, it is likely that someone else can help, or you can buy/get it on board (pirate/princess gear, some clothing, sunscreen, etc). :goodvibes
I am so looking forward to meeting you all!

How Exciting!! Good Luck!!! :thumbsup2
Do you mind if I ask where he works? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post it on the board.

I have read so many packing threads, I don't even know where to start anymore! I am big-time worried about germs and sickness....:rolleyes2 and I have the Rx meds for the kids and the Rx phenergrin (sp?) gel to put on their wrists to help nausia, I have tylonol, motrin, cough meds, imodium, travel first aid kit, band-aids, neosporin, swimmer's ear drops, lysol, wipes and purelle....I hope I have every situation covered, and I hope we don't have to use any of it...except constant purelle of course!! If you see two boys walking around in a bubble, they are mine. Please return them to the room properly labled on said bubbles!!:rotfl2: BTW if you happen to be ill, I charge less than the infirmary!! :thumbsup2

Clothes..shorts, tshirts, dinner wear, swim suits, dresses, undergarments and shoes, hats. Think that's covered.

Got the over the door shoe holder. Fold up hamper. Lots of suncream and burn jel, not doing the extra power coard...saw the room pics and just don't think we will have enough stuff to plug in to need it. Going low-tech. A few books and toys for the kids in the room. a few beach toys. travel backpack. Camelback. not doing the FE, so one less thing to pack. got the WINE!! :faint: Got the photo mat and sharpies for characters to sign. Got the highlighters for the navigators. throw away underwater cameras for the boys to use.

Is there anything else for luggage (not talking docs passports etc.) that we really should have or need? I just feel like I am forgetting so much....

There are so many great tips and ideas...some that I thought must do, some that I am sure I forgot, and some that I remembers and already did.....
but aside from the tips and tricks...what else is really needed?? Sorry, I know you all have your own packing to do...I'm just getting a little um...worried/excited/worried/:hyper:

OK - I fully recognized that being on the disboards automatically qualifies us all as type "A" personality vacation planners (hello:wave:, my name is Bryan, and I'm a DIsaholic), - BUT - between this post & your blog post about over-planing, it may be about time for us to stage a DIServention for you:lmao:

Don't forget that all the great tips we read on here are just that - tips - not requirements. Whats the old saying about packing? Something like, "pack everything you need, then take half out." I'm pretty sure half the over-the-door shoe holders & pop-up hampers wouldn't even be needed, but we're all trying to figure out where to store the million +1 "recommended items to pack" that we read about on the disboards.

I guess the bottom line is that a Disney Cruise is nothing like planning for the Disney Parks - You really can just go with the flow, have a great time, and not worry that you are somehow "missing out" on something.

I know we are all starting to stress a little because its getting down to crunch time, but aside from a few essentials (passports, IDs, your children) - there really isn't too much that we could forget to pack that cant be replaced or just go without.

Anyway - not trying to pick on Jaime - but as great as these boards are, I think the urgency & necessity of things can get overblown BIG TIME.
Would I enjoy doing Palo Brunch again?
Absolutely.
Will I line up at 1pm with everyone else to see if I can get a Palo Brunch?
Absolutely.
Will I spend more than two seconds being disappointed if I don't get a Palo Brunch?
Absolutely NOT
I'll simply take it as an opportunity to do some other awesome activity that I would have missed while eating brunch. Whats that? I think its the Mickey 500 calling my name or maybe a Champagne tasting...
Either way, I am going to have ONE HECK OF A VACATION! Cant wait to meet everyone!!:grouphug:

Shoot!!! The kids!! I forgot to pack the kids!!! :lmao:

I will be fine really...I get your post! lol! I honestly was asking what the heck I was forgetting in the normal world! Pop up hamper and all! Thank goodness I was reminded of Pirate gear, I would have really been upset about that...since we do have it and all...Hello last Halloween! You know we are so meeting up at that Champagine tasting!!! Could care less about Palo...although I have my ressy... :hyper: we are really not ever hitting the pools...we will take our floating "Pooh" chances in the aquaduck, :rotfl: I am so looking to meeting everyone!!! So really...what did I forget???:lmao:

BTW you have read the blog right?? You are SO not the first to suggest a "DIServention" LOL get on board buddy! or wait in line!!! :lmao:

Thanks for the nice responses. I have to say, after nine months of hard work (started August 1), it was weird hitting my mark and having no one at home to share the news with (boys in bed, husband on a plane, family in a different time zone...)! Thank goodness for this kind little corner of the world where people are willing to share in a little joy and almost always online to provide instant gratification. ;)

I got very sick when we were posted to India, then two kids came B2B, have as crazy a work/home schedule as everyone else, and the rest was just laziness. When my husband left the country, it gave me a little bit of extra time to work out (irony, I know). The bad news is, I was shooting for a size 8 and overshot to a 4. Bad because I have to order cruise clothes online (not a lot of beachwear in Prague) and most of what I ordered is honestly too big. (I know, I know...wah, wah, wah) So I had to order again in new sizes. Ouch, waste of money. But it's at least a nice problem to have and I'm having fun with clothes again. I will admit that it was a LOT of work. A LOT. :crazy2:

Thanks again for celebrating with me. Drinks are on me! Oh, wait, we're not on board yet!!!! But seriously, you will see me on date night(s) dancing in the Tube, and drinks ARE on me if you are there at the same time...

This is amazing! What an accomplishment. Fingers crossed that you are in London in just a few short weeks/months (though it wouldn't interfere with taking vacation, right? You are such an integral part of our board, you absolutely MUST join us!!!!)

Wow, we have a famous chef onboard. Has he been on Top Chef yet? Maybe that's next....
