we did it awhile back
forgot the number but there was different choices think I did it to my wife and not kids. I,m just soooo mean to her.

had to have our son tell her about the first disney cruise we booked she would NOT believe me, one of the first 7 day cruises all she would say was disney doent DO 7 DAY CRUISES !!!!!!!!!

Have already prayed and will keep praying. So, so sorry, Susan and Tony. I must add that personally know that the nephrology team at Barnes is outstanding. I know that will be just one part of the team involved, but should help.

All you need to do is to logon to the DCL website with your confirmation number, and near the bottom will be character call that can be clicked. On my computer hard to miss, it has a character (can't remember who) and about 2 x 2 inches, so should not miss. Don't try google... I did and was useless. BUT remember you are allowed a maximum of 2 calls per stateroom. We have used up one for each, and are saving the other for closer to the time. You do not have to be fully paid, but just your deposit. Hope this helps Oh, it allows you to choose Mickey, Goofy, or Ariel. I liked the Goofy one best.

I'm not really sure I like this. When I think of Disney, Dumbo doesn't scream out to me, but then again, it's not like it's a deal breaker for me.

Wow, talk about a long summer. First Tony's step mom mona had a massive heart attack took extra long to get recovered, then the scare with me and my health. Well at my week and half out we got the call that Tony's mom was going in to get her gall bladder out! K, K, K, should be all fine not! I still being very weak, Tony did not go to the hospital, lots of reasons, (me, no vacation time, big audit at work he is in charge of). His sister kept us informed, and we called often. Well, last tues night we called to check in, she was still having abdominal pain after surgery, were suppose to do a test. We called to find out how they went and were told "we couldn't move her to the other hospital to do. The test because she is in critical condition" I was upset and said if the hospital didn't have the capacity to do the test then she was too critical for her to stay there. Well by morning they were transferring her, she was taken by Arch helicopter to big barnes in St Louis! That night she was talking and joking, the next day she was on total life support and having multi organ failure, started on dialysis. She is sick! We were told to bring in family. She has gotten better only to backslide. I'm saying this only so you know why were are Mia again,and to once again ask for prayers or good wishes! We are in need! We have been soooo tired I hope all gets back on tract soon. What feels like it might break us, only makes us stronger!

I will be praying for you and your family. My mother-in-law had an appendectomy 2 years ago and should have been a simple surgery and recovery, but she spent 2 months in ICU but eventually made it back home. Sometimes we can't understand why things happen, we just have to keep moving and trusting in God.

I did this last year and since we live in Tennessee, I was given a phone number to call that would play the message. It was not as "magical" as receiving a call, but my boys still loved it. Hopefully it is not like that this year.

As for the design, I really like it! I loved watching Dumbo as a kid - it was my favourite Disney film whilst growing up. The Minnie (inside) and Dumbo (outside) combination would be great! (Tinkerbell would have been fun too, or Winnie the Pooh painting from a pot of Hunny.)

It looks like I'll be hading off to Finland in two weeks, so I won't have much time to spend on the boards utnil I get back. Lots to do... Is it May yet?

Tony and Susan, you guys have certainly had a lot going on this summer! I hope things look up for you very, very soon! No pressure to hurry back here - take care of you and your'n!

Dumbo is not my favorite choice because I find the movie horribly depressing. All I think about when I think about Dumbo is how I saw it as a child. The part where Dumbo's mother (Jumbo?) reaches through "prison" to touch Dumbo was awful! And as a child who had recurring nightmares about my mom being kidnapped or taken away forever, it always made me cry. I wanted Dumbo to have his mommy! Plus those elephants didn't seem to like what they did in the circus, and people teased Dumbo... wow - now I'm being depressing! Anyway, I'm glad it's a hit for lots of you, and I'm sure, as with all things Disney, it will be done beautifully. I would have liked Peter Pan or Tinkerbell..... I read somewhere about Genie as an option, and personally, that character best captures for me the idea of fantasy. Wishes, your wildest imaginations, making anything you can think a reality, etc. I would have LOVED that choice. Anyway, to each his or her own!

dlf246, glad to see a pic of your family! You look very pirate-y, and I always like seeing a dad who lets loose and is part of the action!

I signed my niece up for one of the DCL calls, but I made a mistake on the night, and she'll be getting the call tonight while at gymnastics! Oh well, I read that they'll send you a link to reschedule if the call is missed, so I hope it can get rescheduled since you only get 2 calls per stateroom. I picked Ariel - sure to be a hit with my Ariel-loving niece!

You know, I have been told by friends that I "overidentify" with animals. I think it must be true based on my previous post and what I'm about to say: I never have been a big fan of Chip and Dale because I feel like they cause a whole bunch of trouble and Donald ends up being the bad guy for hitting his limit. They need to own their part of the mess they create!

... it's a good thing I'm a counselor so I can diagnose and subsequently treat myself for my gross overidentification with animated characters...

Well, since DD needed to know soon, and I just learned about character calls, we did this. (is this new, or did we miss this in '06 and '08?). We did it on the DCL reservation site. Goofy called her and we captured all of this on video. Woo Hoo!!

I did not know you could do this! Very very cool. Will have to try it for the kids. Even though they know they are going, think they would get a kick out of a phone call from Goofy.

Sorry have been MIA again. We switched from AT&T U-verse back to Time Warner and DSL and needless to say, they screwed up everything. We have been without internet for several days (and phone for a couple) but, knock on wood, all is going well now.

Work is busy but will do my best to keep up with the boards.

We will be in Helsinki for a week. The conference includes some time in the city in the evenings (including a hockey game - yay! This Canadian LOVES her hockey...) and we have two days afterwards to do our own thing. I was in Helsinki in September 2010, so I am familiar with the downtown area, farmers market, beack, parks, etc. It will be fun to try a few new things too. If you have any recommendations within walking/train distance from downtown I am all ears.

And thank goodness you weren't affected by the fires. We had a forest fire just North of where I live that wiped out half of a town. Horrible! I hope the families who lost their homes and belongings will be well taken care of by their neighbours and aide organisations.

Although I didn't like the previous picture that was posted, seeing it like this makes it look so good. My boys are going to love seeing an elephant hanging off the stern of the ship!

I don't think booking a dummy date is new. The CM will just tell you the last date available for booking, in my case it was 12/01/12. I booked a 7 night Dream with a GTY cabin for 12-01-2012. I received the 10% discount and paid only a 10% deposit. When the 2013 dates open up, I will move this cruise. The only difference with a DUMMY is that they do not assign a cabin number from inventory since they know you will move to another date.

its called a PLACEHOLDER basic info then we use a TA so there name TBA (to be anonoced) for date ,stateroom category, which ship ,length of cruise,area for cruise, and YES the on board deposit, also your discount,
So sounds like you are booking a space and not needing a certain cruise less work for them, and still get your on board discount, will know more in 2 weeks.
