we are going to fantastic this summer and want to know the difference in the seating area and entrance for both fast pass plus or fantastic dining package? Thanks for your input.

I hope you mean Fantasmic not fantastic.

In my point of view, the dining package isn't really worth it, the seating is no better than what you get if you just get in line and go sit down, and if you go on a day when there are two showings, the 2nd one usually has a much smaller crowd, you can often get a good seat showing up perhaps only 20 - 30 minutes prior to the opening of the theater.

Has something changed? I haven't paid that much attention to park happenings, but my previous trips this year had the entire center sections reserved for only dining package guests.

Everyone uses the same entrance. Dining gets the two center sections and FP gets all the sections to the immediate left of Dining.

Standby gets all the sections to the right of Dining. If Fantasmic is close to capacity, leftover Standby/walk-in people can be directed to sit in the Dining area. I think FP is the better option for the first show of the night. 2nd show is ideal due to lower crowd levels.

Saw the first showing of fantasmic not even a month again and sat in like the third row in the center and I didn't have a dining package for FP. I think they must have done away with it :)

I've seen Fantasmic every August (save one) since 2008, always gone in standby, always wound up towards the left side, and a few times got seats quite close to the lagoon. The view has always been excellent.

Dunno if that means something has changed or not, just what my experience has been.

Arrows indicate the center of the seating.
Shaded areas:
(First or Only F! performance of the evening)
Cyan= Standby (walk-in) seating
Red= Dining Package Reserved
Blue= FP+ Reserved
Purple= Can be either FP+ or Dining Plan Reserved, depending on needs.

(Second or Third F! performance of the evening)
Cyan= Standby (walk-in) seating
Red, Purple, Blue= FP+ Reserved
(Although much of the outer Blue will likely be used for Standby.)

That's fantastic... Hope you enjoy the show.

Keep in mind, that with the setup of the venue and its triple water screen display, almost all of the entire seating area is good. The exceptions might be the first several rows where, on a breezy or windy evening, you may get somewhere between damp and soaked with the wind blowing the water on you. Enjoy.
