We are going in less than 2 weeks now and recieved our tickets today! YAY!!!

I keep hearing about something called Fantasmic (Virgin even mention is specifically in all their stuff that came with the tickets today) and despite all my reading and excitement, I seem to have missed exactly what this is??? Is it something special? And should I have prebooked it??

Thanks
Emma

Fantasmic is a nighttime show where Mickey fights all the Disney villains. It's at MGM Studios and you don't need special tickets or to pre book. It is recommended that you get there early (two hours before it starts!) especially in peak season but it really is worth it.

There is something called the Fantasmic dinner package, details are on allearsnet and yoyu do need to pre book that.

Fantasmic is the show at MGM Studios. It's based, as far as I understand it, on Fantasia and the story of Mickey Mouse. Apparently it is utterly Fantastic!!!

You do not need separate tickets for it (although Disney do a Fantasmic dining package, which includes a meal and reserved seating at Fantasmic). It is on at 8 pm each night and the recommendations are to get there AT LEAST half an hour before it starts to get good seats. Apparently, it fills up very quickly.

We (unfortunately) didn't see it last time we were there but are looking forward to seeing it in September this year.

Have a great time.

There will be a few nights when Fantasmic! is showing at both 9pm and 10.30pm. If you can stay that late, watch the second one. Much less busy. My family LOVES Fantasmic! I have the CD and listen to it a lot :teeth:

Fantasmic was one of the highlights of our holiday and we were there 3 weeks. It really was great :teeth: We did the dinner package at Mama Melrose and got some great seats in the reserved seating area. Whatever you do don't miss this show.

Agree with all the above. Don't dare miss this show. We're just back having seen Fantasmic on a number of other occasions previously, so we were very relaxed about hurrying to see it this time although we certainly wouldn't miss it - ever. There were a number of new attractions for us this time - Mickey's Philharmagic, Wishes (and not forgetting "Turtle talk with Crush at Epcot - a hoot!). These were all superb on seeing for the first time (OK - on second, third and fourth too :teeth: ) and it crossed my mind that Fantasmic might just lose its place at the top of our fave list ................. until we saw it again. Verdict - its still the most awesome (overworked word but it fits perfectly), lump in the throat/tear in the eye spectacle on Disney property and the music has everything you wish for in a Disney Epic.

Just my opinion of course, but I know of three more at least in my own family who agree completely. :goodvibes

Actually we would have seen it earlier in our holiday having booked a Fantasmic DP but it was cancelled thanks to "Dennis". I wasn't in the best of moods having missed out on Fantasmic AND being unable to use my DDE card for our meal (see previous topics re Fantasmic DP) - GRRRRR! ;)

I agree as well, fantasmic is wonderful. The fantasmic dinner package means booking a dinner at one of a number of restruants and then you get a ticket that allows you entrance to a side section of the arenea, meaning you do not have to get there so early. However, there are no bad views, so side does not mean bad.

It is well worth seeing.

We do Fantasmic at least three times every time we go, wouldn't miss it for the world, its the best show in Disney, I do like sitting right near the front tho' as getting a bit wet (nothing much, just sprinkles) is part of the fun

The atmosphere in crowd while you are waiting for the show to start is amazing too everyone is so excited, then out comes Mickey and you would think it was elvis. Everyone was screaming. The whole experiance was brilliant :cool1:

We didn't get to see this last time it is definately on our todo list. :Pinkbounc

It's the best show ever - first time we went we missed out becuase of rain... next time did a dinner/show tickety thingy (Brown Derby - very nice!) and got to see it and were blown away - it's the best Disney show ever. Next day bought the CD soundtrack. You HAVE to see it - it's brill!

Ditto all of the above.

Since my first trip (1999) Fantastmic has been my number 1 WDW attraction. My heart will break the day I hear it's closing!! Can't think about that right now!

Saw it twice on my first trip, four times second trip (2002), and three times last trip (2003).

I won't give anything away, but the last five minutes is a tear-jerker, in a nice way, if that makes any sense!! It makes your heart skip a beat.

The CD is fantastic (fantasmic even! OK - bad joke) and well worth buying. I must have listened to mine at least a trillion times.

Look forward to hearing what will surely be your positive opinion of it in the future. Enjoy your trip!

I agree with everything MinnieMouseUK said. The first time we watched it in 1999 it was our last night there and it was on 3 times that night. We watched the second one, then decided to go back and watch it again straight away. I can't imagine how I'd feel if they stopped showing it. We are always sure now to watch it before the last night so that if it's cancelled, we can still see it another time.

We love Fantasmic too - and actually found that this year we didn't have to turn up quite so early (although there were 2 shows the night we went). We went at 8.15 for the 9pm show and got in with no problems. 45 mins was long enough to sit beside very sweaty strangers! We take a picnic and enjoy the seat!

iT'S FUNNY ABOUT TIMINGS FOR TURNING UP FOR SHOWS ETC., WE WERE LATE FOR BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, AND THEY HAD JUST OPENED ONE OF THE SIDE PARTS OF THE THEATRE AND WE GOT SEATS A COUPLE OF ROWS BACK - PERFECT! NICE IDEA ABOUT TAKING A PICNIC THOUGH!!!

NEXT TIME WE'RE PLANNING ON SEEING THE LAST FANTASMIC OF THE EVEING - THINK IT WILL BE EVEN MORE MAGICAL

Oh dear, I am going to have to say I didn't think it was all that fantastic. I enjoyed the bits between the film bits and especially the characters but I think I had blown up in my mind to be something utterly fantastic and unmissable after reading all its good reviews so it was a bit of a let down when I saw it. I wouldn't do it again.

Fantasmic is amazing :teeth: I absolutely love it, and am actually sat listening to the soundtrack CD as I type this :wizard:
