We used the lighting structure trick for our trip in March and had a great view. Their was only 1 show per night at that time. I'm wondering does the trick work for the 2nd show or does the lighting structure stay up after the 1st show has ended.

TIA! :wizard:

Shannon, can you remind me what the trick is? DH and I want to see Fantismic! when we are there for his B-Day. I am trying to decide whether to do the Dessert seating, but DH is hesitant to spend the money. I haven't decided whether to win the argument or not. :rolleyes1

Thanks,
Shannon :upsidedow

Bumping again and answering the other Shannon's ? ~

The lighting trick is as follows ~

Right along the railing are at least 2 big things right at eye level, makes you think it'd be a terrible view, well about 10-15 min. before the show starts these things raise up and you have a great view. My kids stood on the brick/stone wall that was below the railing and held onto the railing, this gave them a couple feet extra.

I just don't know if the "things" stay up after the 1st show or if they are lowered again prior to the 2nd show.

They are lowered prior to the second show - as I recall they go up about 10-15 minutes before the show starts.

Sorry, showing my ignorance here, but where exactly are the eye level things that I should stand behind??? I am trying to picture exactly where you are talking about and having a hard time. :confused3 I have never been to F! before and am not even really sure where it shows! Just that it shows on ROA.

Thanks!

Um ~ I don't really know how to explain, we we pretty much in front of the Island, we we're directly behind the sound desk/table, the better view would've been the lighting structure to our left (facing the water), perhaps someone can post photos??

Thank you ScooterL!

There are three light posts; one in the middle, one on the left side, and one on the right side. They're the three main light towers that are used to light the Fantasmic show. They're really big, so you can't miss them. (If you're not sure, you can ask a CM -- they will know about the middle light tower/pole.)

Before the show, the Light Posts on the sides will already be up in the raised position, but the light post in the middle will still be down at ground level. It will appear that the middle light tower will block the view, so few people will stand behind the middle light post (or tower); and while the rest of the Fantasmic viewing area is crowded, there should be some space there to stand. About 10 minutes before the show starts, the middle light tower is raised up high, and you will have a very good view of the show!

Re "eye level things": The "sound desk/table" is the director's console, for lack of a better word. You will see four or five CMs sitting at the control consoles -- you can't miss them. I think a couple of the CMs will be wearing headsets to communicate to the rest of the crew.

You don't want to stand directly behind the middle pole, because it will slightly block your view; so it's better to move slightly away from the pole.

We did this on a Tuesday night in early-August '07. Fantasmic was jampacked that night, but there was some room for us there about 30 minutes before the 9:00pm show.

HTH :earsboy:
