My friend is taking her 2 and 4 year olds to DW in August and was wondering if the Fantasmic show at Hollywood Studios is too scary for her little ones? If anyone could tell me their experience with this I would appreciate it. :)

We went with our kids and at the time they were 3 and 5. The show itself wasn't really scarey, at least our kids didn't think so. But it can get loud so if big booms are scarey than that will happen.....

My DD had no problem with it at 2 and 3, but kids of similar age sitting near us screamed throughout most of it. Really just depends on the child.

It is dark and can be scary for some kids. I'd recommend finding a YouTube video and watching it and/or showing it to the kids before going to see it in person.

Thats a good idea, I will tell her to do that :) Thank You

It is loud and the flames and the dragon thingy may be too intense for some little ones.

DS first saw fantasmic at age 2.5 and it never bothered him. We videotaped the whole show back when DS was 4 and we watch it every couple of months. DD was 2.5 the last time we went and she fell asleep in it.

If her kids are afraid of fire and/or loud noises, it may be too much for them. It frightened the heck out of my 5-yr-old.

Did it help her, or did she decide that she didn't want to go to Fantasmic.

Sorry...should have finished that thought :rotfl:

Yes, she decided that she definately wanted to see Fantasmic. However, I should add that my DD isn't afraid of much.

We regularly watch videos of Disney on YouTube...she loves them and it gets her so excited for the trip!

Thank you all, she did watch Fantasmic on You Tube and decided to book the dinner package at the Brown Derby. Hopefully her little guys will be ok :) This will be my 5th trip and I have never seen this show, I am definately planning on seeing in June when we go.

I asked my kids if they wanted to see Fantasmic again. My son (age 9) said yes, but the fire was really hot! Just a heads up you do feel the heat from a fire effect. (I had forgotten that!)

Dd was fine w/ it at 17mo... but we skipped it in December w/ ds (2yo). I think he would have been fine w/ the actual show, but he's very active and I didn't think he would wait very well for the time we would have had to sit and wait for the show to start after being seated.

Dd (turning 7yo) and I will catch it when we go in July for her birthday.

When we first saw it my sons were 2 and 5. We've been to Disney the past 4 years, and going back this summer. We have to see Fantasmic at least 2 times each trip. My family loves the villians though. If the kids are a little more nervous about things just sit farther back, it will be loud, but the experience is less intense.
Once I even sat adn held the videocamera the entire show, just to find out at the end I never hit the record button!!!

Just saw it last night with DS4. He was a little taken back at parts but did enjoy it as a whole.
