We went when she was not quite 2 years old. She was scared of the characters. If they came by she would close her eyes and cry. The fireworks sared her also. NOw she just turned three. I went to WDW website. The music came on and she asked me to close it. I don't know why the Disney music scares her. Then the fireworks noise came on and she didn;t like that either. She is very excited to go and talks about it a lot. I hope she is not still scared of the characters. Im going to buy earplugs so hoefully that will help with the noise issue during fireworks. We wanted to see Fantasmic also, I guess I'll sit near an exit! Is it possible to do so, sit in the back near an exit?

Its possible to sit near an exit, but the fireworks can be heard from quite a distance - it would probably take fifteen or twenty minutes to remove her. Honestly, I would just do the daytime stuff and skip fireworks.

My 5 year old HATES loud noises, fireworks, you name it -- he even covers his ears when he flushes the toilet because he says it's too loud.

However, much to our surprise, he absolutely LOVED Fantasmic when we went last June. We sat 5 rows from the front, right in the center and honestly that was a great place to sit. Every other time I've been to Fantasmic, I've sat way over to one side at the top and it is just not the same.

Now, Illuminations was another story -- much too loud for him & also for my 2 year old (although they had both seen it several times before).

Soft earplugs or noise reduction overtheears headphones will help with the noise.

Fantasmic is in a huge outdoor amphitheater, and I'm sure you can find a seat on the back row. But IMO, you should still go and try to get your DD acclimated to such events. If you just stop going altogether, you'll never know when she's "over it". And I think the more you introduce her to these things, she will eventually get used to them and realize they will not hurt her. Besides, so what if you go for 10 minutes and have to leave. It's not like you're out any money for the show, just your time and energy it takes walking up that hill! Good Luck! Hope you're able to see the show. It's fantastic.

My DS is very senstive to noise. We were the ones running out of Epcot once Illuminations started. He just can't handle it. I wouldn't go near Fantasmic. We just had to skip those types of things. HOpefully, when he is a little older, we will do it then. Good luck.

is it the noice she doesn't like, or 'scary' things - my dd has always enjoyed Illuminations, but she didn't like Fantasmic due to the dragon - last year (age nearly 7) she agreed to go see it, and she quite enjoyed it althogh she was very nervous when the dragon came on, previous to that she was upset just at the thought of going (she had seen clips on the Disney tv) and I wouldn't force her to go see a show that she was scared off.

My DS 2.5 does not like the fireworks or loud noises. We just didn't do any of those type things, so we skipped Fantasmic. Maybe another day for us.

Also, I know my DS wouldn't wear any of those earplugs or anything on his ear. But each child is different.

The very back row is mostly open spaces for wheelchairs and ECVs. The row right in front of that is reserved for the people traveling with those using wheelchairs.
You should not have a problem getting seats toward the back though (and on an aisle). The exit is the same way you came in. In case you need to get away from the noise a bit, there is a set of restrooms at the back of the amphitheater (look for them on your left as you are coming in).

We took my niece and her 3 yr old DD last Spring. Her mom was not sure how she'd react because she was kind of scared of fireworks and loud noises. One thing that helped the little girl a lot was that before the show, we told her what the "story" of the show was in words a 3 year old would get:
Mickey is sleeping and first he has a good dream. Then some of the "bad guys" come into his dream and try to make him have a bad dream. At first, Mickey is scared, but then he says "You bad guys go away. I want a good dream." When he says that, they go away and after that, the dream is very nice.
We told her that sometimes there would be fireworks and even fire, but it was just Mickey's dream, so nothing bad could happen.

She did get scared at times, covered her eyes, covered her ears and buried her head in her mom's shoulder. But, she enjoyed it a lot.
Some of the funny things she said were:
"Mickey really is having a scary dream. I hope he wakes up soon."
"Mickey, tell the bad guys to go away. I want to see the good dream."
"That's a scary monster, but it's not scary to me. Only to Mickey."

When we were at WDW 2yrs ago, dd had just turned 3. She was very nervous and would only go on the tamer rides. She cried through Wishes at MK but loved Fantasmic.
