We are going to HS on July 26. Should we go with the dining package at MM at 4:30, 1st Fantasmic, Frozen Fireworks after (will there be enough time to see them)? Or go with Sci-Fi at 5:15, Frozen Fireworks, 2nd Fantasmic (will we get back to the theater in time)? If we go with the 2nd, should we get a fast pass? Would we be there in time to use it?

Choose Scifi>Fireworks>Fantasmic

You shouldn't need a FP but you can always pick up one in the evening as your 4th or 5th of the day.

We went to the 2nd Fantasmic last Saturday after Star Wars fireworks. The ampitheater was nowhere near half full.

2 sections on the far right and3 sections on the far left were completely empty.

Definitely do the second show. When we were there in April we grabbed fast passes for the second show as our 6th fast pass at the end of the day and were directed to the Mickey (dining package) section. The whole place was only maybe half way full.

What a FP+ for F! offers is more CHOICE in seating.

If you DO get a F! FP+, you can choose to sit in either the FP section (virtually the entire left half of the theater)
or the Standby section (virtually the entire right half of the theater.
So, whatever section has the better seating at the time you arrive, you can go there.

Without a FP, you can only choose a seat in the Standby section.

There is a very good chance that you can get a FP+ for F! as a 4th or 5th FP of the day because they
issue SO MANY of them (enough to cover nearly the entire left half of the seating.)
On many nights, it is possible that you can gat a FP+ for F! as you are walking to the theater.

As to when to arrive at the theater, I'd get to there 45-60 minutes before the show-time.

Even with a FP or Dining Pkg. reservation, don't wait too late.

On busy nights, the CMs can stop holding the reserved sections within 20-30 minutes before show-time,

and turn over any available seats to waiting walk-in guests.

There is a "pre-show" (such as it is) that can help pass the last 30 minutes before show time.

Thanks everyone. We will go with the second show. From what I gather, the fireworks should be over at 10:00 (?) or so and we'll have 20-30 minutes to get to a not-full theater ( hopefully).
