We will be at WDW the second week in August. We are not planning to do a dinner package, as we think the kids will love the Sci Fi diner, and I don't really want 2 sit down meals.

If Fantasmic is at 9, how early do people line up? If we don't care about awesome seats, how early do we need to be?

How early do they open the theatre? I was hoping we could get seats, and then dh or I could ruin and get a meal for the kids and us.

Is that a good plan?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. (If we have to, I'll do the dinner plan, but I'd rather not)

The lines can be anywhere from 1 to 2 hours +. If I were you, I would get a ps for Hollywood and vine. This way you have a gauranteed seating and you can walk on through with no wait, except for the wait for the show to start.

Because you are going at a busy time...I'm not sure what to tell you. We just returned today and we saw Fantasmic on Friday evening. We got there about 7:20 and were seated about 1/2 way up the stadium and in the center. Things stayed relatively calm until about 8pm when tons of people began coming in. I will warn you that when you do get a seat watch out for the late people (the ones that come in about 8:55pm) and try to scoot you over and steal your seat. We didn't mind waiting for the show becuase our 2 DS's kept busy eating popcorn and cotton candy. The CM's also have the stadium people do the "wave" and other things to pass the time. I will say, however, that the view might be best from the center but I think a view from either side of the center would be really good too. They have 3 displays that they show the films on so if you aren't "dead center" you will still be able to view the show just fine.

When you do dinner ressies (we did them 3 years ago), they reserve seating for you on the far right of the stadium. Just a thought for you to ponder. This show is a must see and even though you don't want to wait forever...it is worth waiting some time.

Oh my.....I had NO idea the wait would be that long!! For that amount of wait time, I guess we could eat dinner and still be ahead.

On our last trip (April 2001, but not Easter), we did the package, but I didn't pay attention to the crowds.

I just had no idea!!!
