Fantasmic Vs Illuminations

Which one do you suggest for the dessert party? Were still undecided, but leaning towards Fantasmic. Any tips on having a dessert party at either location?

Personally I like the fantasmic show more than illuminations

I'm partial to Fantasmic. I really enjoyed that show. Look for Mary626's TR. She had a dessert party there (I believe as a welcome party).

If you're looking for a truly unique experience I'd go with Fantasmic. Everyone's seen fireworks before, but Fantasmic is a great show... and totally unique to Disney!!

I agree that Fantasmic is the best "Disney" show. Just keep in mind what you want to get out of it for your guests. Fantasmic is probably my favorite, but since we're having a lot of guests that aren't into Disney we decided to go with Illuminations for our dessert party. Also, the thing that we really liked is that you're right on the water. I think (don't quote me) that for Fantasmic you are up a lot higher away from the main area of the show. Either way you go though you can't go wrong, after all no one does fireworks like Disney

I agree with FigmentFan, Fantasmic is amazing, but the seating for the party is at the back of the theatre. With Illuminations, its like you have front row seats, especially with the lower terraces. I think also, if you want to take pictures during the fireworks, Illuminations is the way to go, because its more of a fireworks display, while Fantasmic is more of a show with him running around on stage along with other characters. They claim it has fireworks but they are very brief. Illuminations is all fireworks and some things floating on the water.

I personally like the Fantasmic show more. I have never seen a dessert party there though.

Also keep in mind that Fantasmic is at varying times throughout the year which could affect the flow of your event. I think it also has more of a chance of cancellation if it has rained close to the show time, since there are live performers involved. IllumiNations is alwasy at 9PM except during December when it is 9:30.

Not to take away from anyone's DPs but I really, really wish they had an option for wishes. I know you can do the cruises, but that's not really the same. Although, if my guest list continues to dwindle, I may do this. Once upon a time, a long time ago, I heard a rumor that they did wishes DPs at the MK in the main street train station. OMG, I would looooove that soooo much. Considering I worked as a conductor on my CP!

If DF was choosing, we'd end up with an illuminations DP, but I don't love it enough to spend the $$ on it! lolol.

I like illuminations and fantasmic but also really wanted a Wishes option. I have too many people for a Wishes Cruise so I am having a DP at the GF marina patio. I got the idea from Janet2K who had a party there and has pictures of it online. The train station at MK would be very cool! I think I might ask about that or any other locations in/closer to the MK that you could have a party.

Wishes would be an amazing dessert party. If that was a choice, I would make sure we had it there.

But yeah I did have concerns about fantasmic being so far back from the show. I wish they would have better seating for the party. We do love that show, after we got engaged at Disneyland, we watched Fantasmic! there, so it's apart of our story, but the set up at MGM isnt as nice as the Illuminations.

We had a Fantasmic cocktail hour before our MGM receiption and it was great. We also had an Illuminations welcome party so clearly we like both.

Fantasmic is cancelled more for weather (wind, rain etc as there are a lot of characters that are in the show as you know) so keep that in mind as you are deciding.

I would pick Illuminations...but that may be because I like our Fantasmic out here at DL better than WDW... Plus I love all the WS DP locations!

Yeah but at the DL Fantasmic you have to cram altogether standing like sardins to watch it. I can't see how that is better?
I like the nice MGM Theater with seating for everyone much better.

I love wishes. Have done a pontoon boat and hope do that wishes on the grand 1 though I would love a dessert party!!!
