On thw WDW website under the info about Fantasmic, it says "This attraction may be frightening for children".
My boys will be 5 and 7. Anyone taken their kiddos at this age? Did it scare them? What parts are scary? Should I opt out or set up a babysitting service or something?
This will be the first Disney trip for all of us, and I want to be able to do what I want to do as well as the kids. Thanks for the input and suggestions.

The first time we saw Fantasmic our kids were 3, 5, and 7, and they were fascinated by it. You sit far enough away from the action that it's not so scary. There's also water between you and the villains. My daughter was scared to death in the Snow White ride that trip. I remember the worst part about bringing three kids to Fantasmic was the 1 1/2 hour wait in the stands.

i doubt most kids your kids age will be scared. there are a dragon, villans, fire, loud sounds etc. we did see a number of toddlers crying and whose families left but if your kids can watch a movie in a theatre without being scared, i think they could handle it ( my oldest did get scared at disney movies at that age and i don't think would have enjoyed it )
imo it's a "I need to see this once only" attraction so i wouldn't go to the trouble of getting a sitter if you think your kids can't handle it. i'd never spend money on a sitter to see it but if i wondered i'd take them and leave at the first sign of trouble :)
