Fantasmic Question

Can someone give me a quick summary of Fantasmic? I read about it when we went on our first trip to WDW but quickly blew it off since my kids were so little then and there was a warning that it might frighten small children.

Just wanted to revisit the idea (kids will be 4 and 6 for our next trip) but realized I know nothing about it!

I'd love to hear opinions on the show, esp. for little kiddos. Also, am I going to have to stake out a spot 2 hours in advance like for WOC?

Thanks! :)

Fantasmic is one of DS's favorites since he was around 7 or 8. I was worried he would be scared but he loved it. There is only one spot where the villians try to take over but Mickey wins in the end.

If you are concerned about Fantasmic I would suggest taking them to World of color. We just saw it Monday and it was unbelievable. The videos that are out of it do NOT do it justice.

F! is a great show. Cliff note: Epic journey into Mickey's imagination. I would slot out some time for it if you find the kids will be ok, especially considering that Disneyland's F! is better than the World's.

F! is my favorite nighttime show at DL, love the storyline, different characters, music, and Murphy the dragon. The show might be scary for little kids and sometimes they are not scared of the show. It should be fine for little kids to see the show when the show gets to the villains part. You should be able to get a sitting spot right next to the ROA in 2 hours. But if you want to get the railing area, guests get there at least 3+ hours in the summer time. DL is way better than WDW F!.

We love F! My kids (ages 1,3,5,8) all enjoy it. We were there on a Friday night in June and staked out spots about 90 minutes in advance, but that's because we had a group of 20 and we all wanted to be against the rail.

you tube it, you'll find a bunch of videos for it and you can see for yourself. But keep in mind it's 100 times better in real life. :)

Thanks, everyone! I will check it out on YouTube to see whether it looks too scary for the kiddos. My understanding is that there is some sort of priority seating with a meal? I am trying to figure out whether we can see it without staking out a spot 2 hours in advance. I hate doing that. :)

You are talking about the F! dessert premium seating. It's not a meal but actually a dessert buffet. This will allow you to sit in chairs and have a variety of different dessert treats during the show. It prevents you from staking a spot for hours, but it is not cheap. $59 for adults and $49 for kids (3-9).

You can show up anytime for the show but you will not get a ground sitting spot if you show up one hour before the 1st show unless you can ask someone that is sitting down. You can wait for the 2nd show @ 10:30 with less than one hour and still get a good ground sitting spot.

It's a battle of good vs. evil inside Mickey's imagination. My little sister (who is very imaginative) was scared of what might be scary during the entire show, moreso than anything actually in the show. LOL The dragon and the witch scares our friends' kids.

Just a point of clarification. It is not a buffet. Each person will get a dessert box with all sorts of wonderful sweets, fruits, cheese, and crackers. It also includes beverages (soda, water, cofee, hot chocolate, etc...), served to you by cast members.

I know that, I'm just saying that what DL calls it. They give you a dessert box when you are seated for the show, since I have done it last year. It was good to try out all those different desserts and the beverages.

I know YOU know it's not a buffet, but I was clarifying for mrswh, who is learning about it. Disney does not refer to it as a buffet (because it's not). They say: "Reserve your prime seat and tempting dessert sampler with this delightful premium viewing option!"

So I was just making a point of clarification for the benefit of those who don't know so no one would be misled and expect a buffet.

You are right bout that. Thx for making it clear for mrswh

For $59 that better be a darn good dessert buffet . . . er, box. :)

Thanks for all the replies! Now to decide. By the way, where is Fantasmic, and what time!

It's around the River of America

The 1st show is at 9:05 and 2nd show is at 10:30 on a normal 8am-12am schedule. Sometimes during very busy days DL will announce a third show at night.

I think it is $10 for the box and $49 for the good seats. ;)

It is on the Rivers of America in New Orleans Square. It shows at 9:05 and 10:30 during high season and once at 9:00 or 9:05 or not at all during offseason.

There were 4 of us and we took the leftover desserts back to the room and ate them for the next 3 days. There is a lot of dessert there.

Thanks for posting the pics mvf. Don't those pilar column things block some of the view?

If you are a short person, yeah. The CMs don't set up the chairs in front of the pillars to block you out, but if you are looking on the left and right side of the show it can block you out a little but not too much.

Thanks. We'll have 2 short girls with us so in the areas where there is only one row of seats, can they stand if they have trouble seeing or are there people sitting behind us?
