Fantasmic package with free dining plan?

This one has me puzzled. Hollywood & Vine is listed on the dining plan as a table service option. From what I understand, when you do the Fantasmic DP, you are not paying extra at Hollywood & Vine for the package - its the same as the cost of dining there w/o the package, you just get the ticket for the reserved seating area at Fantasmic. If the restaurant is on the dining plan, and you're not paying any extra for the Fantasmic seating, why wouldn't you be able to reserve it? :confused3 We're planning on doing this on our October trip, so I would really like to know the answer to this, too.

Something to consider: apparently at MM and maybe other places, you can only get the Fantasmic package if you PS for 4:30 or EARLIER. Since the dining plan covers the same food as the fantasmic package, if you PS for 4:30 I think you would have a good right to the voucher. The reason you can't 'book' the fantasmic package I think has to do with the credit card requirment, and the fact that the fantasmic package used to be booked when you were physically at MGM only.

There have been conflicting answers to this....some get the FDP with the meal plan and others don't. I'm taking it that it depends on the CM...however, it's got us puzzled, too. If it's not covered, IMO, it's not covered for anyone. If it's covered, again, it's covered for everyone. I think it has everyone confused because it's not clear cut. Some say that when they call for the AR, dining says it's not covered. Some say that dining never said it wasn't. :confused3

I am in the same boat... We booked PS under dining plane and we are planning on asking when we check in, or the day we go to MGM to clear up the issue, and of course we will ask the CM server nicely for the voucher. If they don't give it to us, then I guess we'll wait in line...zip-a-dee-doo-dah!

I just called to book a Fantasmic package and she asked me if we had the dining plan and said it was not covered under the dining plan.

I still booked it as we will be using two dinner credits for Hoop-Dee-Doo and I will need to pay for one dinner out of pocket anyway.

It's clear cut, IT'S NOT COVERED. Some waiters are giving out the seating vouchers. I don't know if it's to get a bigger tip, because they have extra vouchers or if they're just being nice.

Just like not charging for a child that eats next to nothing from a buffet. The rule says you get charged but if the waiter notices the child isn't eating the waiter will sometimes take the meal off the check.
