When we did HBD package a couple of years ago our fantasmic voucher said it was valid for a week which would have been great as it was rained off that night but unfortunately it was our last night. I’m looking at mama Melrose this time and it’s nearky our ADR day and it’s not showing availability past 3pm which really doesn’t work as we’re at a water park that day. So I was wondering if they still give the 7 day tickets and if so are they only valid if the performance is cancelled or can you just use them any night in that week?
We’re going a couple of days before in the morning and I wondered if I could get the fantasmic package at lunch time and then just use the ticket a few days later.
Also can I just pay for my 12 year old to have the fantasmic kids package rather than use one of his adult credits as he really doesn’t have a big appetite. They did allow that at HBD and I just wondered if anyone had been able to at mams Melrose.

We haven't seen reports of the dates being on the back since you did it a couple years ago. I think that was some kind of unannounced "test" that really makes no sense at all if you think about how would they know how many seats are going to be filled on which night. So, I don't think your morning plan will work.

However, the 3:00 time has been talked about and many say that they do open later times when the dates get closer. I don't understand the reasoning behind that one either, but just keep checking all the way up to day of. If you can't get the dining package, you should be able to get a late day FP+ for it. The FP+ section is right next to the dining section. If you get there 30-45 min early (the earlier, the better), you should have your choice of seats in the FP or standby section.

And, no, they will not let you pay OOP for a kid's package for a 12 yr old. He's 12, so they will charge the adult price.

When I tried to get the fantasmic package at 180 days out I was told to call back 2 weeks later. When I called back I was able to get a 14:35 ADR. I was informed that the package was now only available at lunch, not dinner. Now since I got that information on the phone you have to take that with a grain of salt.

They did allow that at HBD

That is shocking. Did they know he’s 12? Never ever expect that again.

They can’t be the food police making sure kids like yours don’t actually eat much etc. they charge based on age. Heck, I eat less than my son and it was the same when he was being charged kid prices! They charged me for adult and him as a kid and we ate the opposite.

Assuming that I'm reading it right, they allowed it "a couple of years ago". He's 12 now, so he was no more than 10 then. At 10, he'd still have been over aged, but not by much.

Thank you, I’ll keep checking closer to the time.
Of course they knew his age as we were on the dining plan. He wasn’t 12 then but still a Disney adult. Most places other than buffets we’re planning on buying him kids meals oop rather than using his adult TS credits for meals he won’t eat. Obviously at a buffet it can’t be done but I don’t see why for the fantasmic package if you do mama Melrose or HBD as they only get the food they order. I know of adults who order kids meals or adults who share meals (obviously not a package)

The F! pkg is a fixed price meal just like a buffet. They are priced separately for adults and children. It's not about how much they eat, but that you're paying for something other than the food. You can always ask, but I wouldn't count on it...and the restaurants don't know their age. They won't know what dining plan everyone has until you pay.

I thought they knew anyway but it must have just been because I asked them and explained we only wanted him to have the kids package despite him having the adult dining plan. To be honest they didn’t seem like it was a big deal at all.
