Fantasmic Package Necessary in October?

We will be leaving for WDW in a week and I have an ADR for the Sci Fi on Wednesday Oct. 18 and we would like to go to the Fantasmic show at 7:30 that night. How necessary is the Fantasmic package with prefered seating. It's not offered at the Sci Fi and the kids would really like to eat there but I can probably get them to change their mind if necessary. I really don't want to wait in line for 90 minutes. If we get in line at 7:00 should we be OK? Are there any bad seats?

We went to see Fantasmic back in October 2000 and 2002. I would say that 30 mins is nowhere near enough time for a good seat. Many seats are okayish - but if you want a good, central, unobstructed seat you need need to be there at least 60 mins beforehand IMO. It's a long wait I'm afraid.

We are doing the Fantasmic package this year to help ensure good seats - but even then 30 mins is cutting it fine.

Same goes for Illuminations at Epcot - best 'seats' 45-60 mins beforehand.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mike!
We just got back last night and we did the Fantasmic! DP. We ate at Mama Melrose's. I think we made our way into the theatre about 30 minutes before the show. We had great seats and were able to see everything and enjoy the show. My opinion is this: everything else requires a wait, if you can avoid it why not?! You are planning on eating at MGM anyway, so it may be best to switch your ADR's around. We walked right into the theatre and were seated right away. We even grabbed some water before we went in and Ryan had enough time to buy a light up toy! Our only regret was we didn't have enough time to go see this again!
Good luck with your decision. I liked the peace of mind knowing I didn't have to wait over an hour to get in!
There are really no horrible seats. But I would say sit up a bit higher. We were in about the middle of the seating area and had a GREAT view! ENJOY!

We went to MGM on 9/20 and used the Fantasmic package at H&V. We arrived 30 minutes before show time. There were tons of seats in the reserved area, but very few through the rest of the stadium.

This was a fairly light day in terms of crowds (<10 minute waits for RnR and ToT) so I was surprised how crowded it appeared at the show. I think you would get a seat if you did not have a Fantasmic package on a day like this, but it might not be an ideal seat and you might have to wait until they open up reserve seating to the general public to get a seat.

If I was paying out of pocket, I would not do the Fantasmic package if I know the park is not going to be crowded. Just make sure you are there 45+ minutes early.
