I have only been to Disney in the very busy summer months. This year we are going mid-Sept. Never saw Fantasmic and would like to give it a try. Do you think the Fantasmic dining package is a must? They don't offer very good dining times and would rather not eat at MGM unless we have to. We are also doing that dining plan and would rather eat elsewhere. The theater only holds so many, what are our chances in getting a good seat? Thanks. :bounce:

We went the 1st week of October and found the theater to be 1/2-3/4 full 45 minutes before showtime. I would recommend getting there early over setting up dining reservations you really don't want. Just bring a book in your bag or do one of my favorite pastimes...eat popcorn and people watch.

No-mid September is one of the slowest seasons and you wont have trouble a half hour early. The old dinner package was so much better~you got good seats by just eating at one of their restaurants.

During January of 2002 when the parks were REALLY slow, but the show was still relatively new, we got seats in the back 1/3 with 20-30 min to go before showtime.

I'm not planning the dining package this time around (late Sept) either, but am planning to get to the theater about 45 min early and eat dessert while waiting.

I guess I'm in the minority. I always do a Fantasmic dinner package "just in case". I've always had good food and service at Mama Melrose, and even if the times are "off" for dinner, I think a 5pm ADR was fine for me, especially for a 7:30pm show.
