We are going to be seeing Fantasmic on Sunday, July 20th (my bday!!!) My family (dh, me, 10 yo ds, and 6 yo dd) have done the dessert package the last two times we were at DL. We would love to do it again, but not sure the rest of our group (my parents and my dad's cousin) are very enthused about it. If we decide to just "find a free spot and wait", how early would we need to get there? We have only ever been to DL in June. We will be a party of 7 (maybe 9 if my dad's other cousin meets up with us). Which would be the best option?

Where do you eat the dessert?

To both questions, see "Fantasmic! Superthread" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2671983

I would try to get there by 6PM for the 9PM show.

Would you rather do the upfront must sit area or the POTC bridge? We will have a tall 6 year old and a ten year old.

No brainer. Upfront sitting area.

Bring a blanket or some towels to mark your spot. Leave one person there to watch the spot. Get some hot dogs or something and have dinner there.

I guess we will bring a blanket. Is that what most people do?

No, some. A blanket helps when you have a larger group and you want to leave one person to hold the spot. If everyone stays then a blanket is not needed. Some folks like a blanket so they do not have to sit on the concrete.
