Any idea why Fantasmic is so early on Tuesday, December 1? It's at 7 p.m., & I'm having a tough time making dinner reservations around that! And then there's no Fantasmic scheduled at all for Wednesday, December 2. Any idea if this may change?

I don't have an answer for you, but a question. Where did you find the info? I can't seem to find Dec hours posted on WDW yet.

Dec. is the time of private parities at DHS.

Click>> December TA Calendar (Posted the preceding Mid-May)

While NO calendar is (or could be) 100% accurate, the WDW Travel Agent Calendar
is consistently the earliest-listed and best-maintained (frequently updated) of all of the on-line calendars.

Expect these early-posted hours to be updated by Disney as the actual dates get closer.
(Just keep re-checking this calendar as time goes by.)

That's typically Pop Warner Week and they almost always have a night at HS just for them. Closing on the 2nd is at 6 and even Osborne Lights are "dark," so my guess is that is their private party.

I think Pop is the following week
Likely true.

Dec. 2 could be the WDW CM party.
(Or any other private/corporate party.)

Thanks all! Another question...we were wanting to eat at Sci-Fi before Fantsmic. Will 5 p.m. Be early enough? Figure we can get to the show by 6-6:15.

Assuming a 7:00PM F! Start-time, 6-6:15 will be perfect.
You can very likely grab a day-of Fantasmic! FP+ on your way to the Sci-Fi.

What a FP+ for F! offers is more CHOICE in seating.
If you DO get a F! FP+, you can choose to sit in either the FP section (virtually the entire left half of the theater)
or the Standby section (virtually the entire right half of the theater.)
So, whatever section has the better seating at the time you arrive, you can go there.

Without a FP, you can only choose a seat in the Standby section.

There is a very good chance that you can get a FP+ for F! as a 4th or 5th FP of the day because they
issue SO MANY of them (enough to cover nearly the entire left half of the seating.)
On many nights, it is possible that you can gat a FP+ for F! as you are walking to the theater.

As to when to arrive at the theater, I'd get to there 45-60 minutes before the show-time.
Even with a FP or Dining Pkg. reservation, don't wait too late.

On busy nights, the CMs can stop holding the reserved sections within 20-30 minutes before show-time,
and turn over any available seats to waiting walk-in guests.
There is a "pre-show" (such as it is) that can help pass the last 30 minutes before show time.

Arrows indicate the center of the seating.

Shaded areas:
(First or Only F! performance of the evening)
Cyan= Standby (walk-in) seating
Red= Dining Package Reserved
Blue= FP+ Reserved
Purple= Can be either FP+ or Dining Plan Reserved, depending on needs.

(Second or Third F! performance of the evening)
Cyan= Standby (walk-in) seating
Red, Purple, Blue= FP+ Reserved
(Although much of the outer Blue will likely be used for Standby.)

Robo, you're amazing! Thank you! The pre-show was great last time so we will definitely get there in time to enjoy it. I'm able to make our dining reservations next Sunday, the 31st, so I'm certain I'll have more questions for you in the next few days! Thanks again!

The preshow in the theatre with the disc jockey people with the mics? I don't believe they do it anymore. We've been 3 times this year in the past 3 months, last time being last night, and they didn't do the preshow at all.

I haven't seen the preshow since sometime last year.

I saw the "pre-show" (with the disc jockey people with the mics) twice the second week in January 2015.

(And, lived to tell the tale.) ;)
