DON'T PANIC! The content has remained the same. None of that lousy Florida $%*& to be seen.

Some new lighting effects, or at least ones I did not notice in December, throughout. Most notably during the opening, the island is lit primarily in a gorgeous shade of purple and accented by projected stars, similar to the effect they used on the castle and small world.

That's minor tho, the big change comes later on. I'm still not sure how I feel about this... ready? The pyrotechnics during the Sorcerer Mickey finale have been completely redesigned. Not sure if this is temporary/try out, tonight was the first night back since it went dark in January, but it was jarring. At first I thought it was just misfiring, but no. There is noticeably less pyro. This is good and bad. The finale has always been too smokey. This version solves that, but in exchange, it felt a lot less 'explosive'. For example, the bursts that occur in between the streaming comet like pyro (which no longer stream at an angle across the river, which is just wrong) have been replaced by lighting effects from the towers. However, the ultimate 'what were you thinking, bring it back' moment comes at the end of the scene; that huge burst after 'Some imagination, huh? Ha-ha.' ... GONE!

I'm now making it a point to go back this weekend. I'll try to get some video. I'm very curious to hear reactions to this assuming it continues.

oh, no. The pyro parts were my favorite part of fantasmic. Of course I'll have to see it to make my final verdict but that sounds a little disappointing to me. I'm hoping that the ending was just an oops, and that they aren't leaving out the final big bang after "some imagination huh?"

Thanks for the bash on Florida really appreciate that. I really like both DL Fantasmic and WDW's.

Does Mickey still have the "magical fingers" that shoot out the small pyrotechnics? That's one of my favorite parts.

Without the big bang at the end, does it feel not completed? I am so bummed that they changed it. I love Fantasmic so much, it makes me cry after seeing it for the first time on our trip. :lovestruc (silly I know, but oh well).

Why do they have to go and change things??? I miss TSI being the way that it was, now they're changing IASW and Fantasmic? I say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!"

Awww, man. Fantasmic is my favorite thing at DL and hopefully there was a glitch somehow in what you saw... the finale was great as is. Crossing fingers that you get some video and can show us!

I love fantasmic and so do my DDs. I first saw the DL version, and when I saw the one at the studios, I was horrified. I mean, how could they possibly screw up such a great show that bad? DDs have only seen the WDW version and I have told them the DL is way better. When we go in April, in is only playing on the first night we get there. I am hoping the kids are up for it, we are coming from NY. I am not sure how the time change will effect them. Hopefully they will be all hyped.

'Some imagination, huh? Ha-ha.' ... GONE! OH NO!!! I love that. I hope its just "try" and its back by May. Oy...

Fantasmic at DL has come a long way. Saw it it's first year and it wasn't all that good. I think DL needs to do something about the viewing area of Fantasmic. WDW version really attracks a large crowd for every show. I don't really know how bad it was when you saw it but once again I think they are both great. Obviously the fight between Peter Pan and Capt. Hook is very cool on the Columbia and the back drop on the Rivers of America makes a big difference.

We saw it last night 10:30 showing and it DID have that ending. I agree it didn't seem as "spectacular" as I rememberd it being from year ago...but still a good show with a AWESOME viewing place thanks to the DIS :)

I think what the OP was saying was that the pyro just after Mickey says that is gone, not the saying itself. But that was just my interpretation of it.

Having seen it a couple times now, the sequence 1:36-1:50 is the sole improvement on the original design. It feels anti-climatic and the very, very end doesn't work for me. The huge burst after the 'some imagination' line is missed and the strobing lights at the very, very end have always been such a fitting bookend to the show which begins with the same effect.

Will share more tomorrow.

The lighting on the main fountains seems less vivid. Not just here, but throughout the show; especially on the outer fringes of the jets. Sadly, my favorite color combination, orange and green, has been done away with. I absolutely abhor the spastic changes of light to the beats of the music.

I hope the changes made are not permanent. Maybe they are working out glitches or trying new things out.

I remember watching the very first Fantasmic show for this season and many of the effects were dulled down or missing (Pinocchio neon strings, firework spinners in the water, evening lighting on the water screens were off).

Let's hope for the best!

I agree..I'd really miss it if that was gone.

I can't believe they took that part out. What were they thinking?? :sad2:
