Fantasmic-First or Second Show?

I am doing a happy dance!! I just checked the hours and for the period of 9/23-9/29, many park hours have extended. On Monday the 28th, I'm going to HS and they just extended the EMH to 11pm. WOOT! I was going to see the 8pm show of Fantasmic! but now there is one at 9:30. Which one should I go to? I'm hoping families do the earlier show and I can catch a few rides and then end my night at F! Is that a good plan or should I ride after the first show. I've never been when there was an option of two and could use the advice, please!

We always attend the 2nd showing of Fantasmic as the lines for the headliners are at their very shortest during the early presentation. However, we don't attend Fantasmic on EMH nights because it takes away too much of the extra hours.

The most efficient use of time for Fantasmic is when the 2nd show is scheduled for after the park is closed.

We usually do the first Fantasmic and then head back into the park. I have found, many people leave after Fantasmic and that coupled with a second show usually provides us with fairly short wait times.

95% of the time, I find the 2nd F! show to be less crowded, meaning the typical recommendation to arrive 90-120 minutes early is not needed. We tend to wander over about 20-30 minutes before show time and have no trouble finding a seat. However, on very rare occasions, the first show has been cancelled for rain/tech difficulties, meaning the 2nd show is the only show. This is a bad, bad thing. You should go back to the hotel.

True though. We have always had good luck with attending the 2nd showing.
