Not sure what the heck is going on with the Disney Dinning number but I called last night and was on hold for 30 mins and NEVER got through. Called first thing this morning and am STILL sitting here on hold so I thought I would ask you guys. I reserved the Blue Bayou Fantasmic Package for next Friday night. Problem is they are predicting rain. My question is what is the policy if it rains? If we still decide to eat dinner at Blue Bayou are we going to be forced to pay for the package even if we can't go? Can they switch it to just dinner? I just don't want to get charged for the package and then not be able to go and WAY over pay for dinner.

Likely they won't know before your dinner whether Fantasmic is officially cancelled, so you have to decide for yourself if you want to bank on the show going on and if you want to keep your reservation. Of course, if you don't go to your reservation at all or try to cancel it within same-day, you may be subject to the $10 per person cancellation/no-show fee.

Cancellations

  • Fantasmic! can be cancelled without notice due to technical, weather or other issues.
  • No refunds or exchanges will be available, even if the show is cancelled.

Since you don't pay until you go eat, I think they can switch you to a regular dinner as long as you keep the reservation. A no show will have a fee either way. We went a couple years ago and even though we had reserved the Fantasmic package, our waitress didn't seem to know that. It wasn't a problem though. She switched out the menus and we bought the package.

I would think that if the show was canceled BEFORE you ate you could ask to do the regular meal, but if you do the meal and pay and then the show is canceled later you are out of luck (at least, that was the experience someone posted recently). That would be a real bummer.

And this is why I won't book a dining package until the day of and even then I am hesitant, really I don't want to pay for something I'm not going to get.

I too would think that this would be acceptable, but in my experience unless the weather is incredibly bad all day or there is a known technical issue that cannot be resolved, they won't cancel Fantasmic early enough in the day/evening for the diner to make that switch. I have been at Disneyland when it rained off and on all day, wasn't raining for the last hour leading up to showtime or at showtime, and Fantasmic was still canceled half an hour before showtime when the stage was declared too wet and slick for the performers to be moving around on it. Sure people were warned it might get canceled, but official word didn't come until that close to showtime. Back then though we were only investing time since this was pre-fastpass days, so while frustrating and disappointing, at least we didn't lose any money on it.
