Fantasmic Dinner Pkg Discontinued??

I just saw somewhere recently that it has been continued thru the month of March. Can't remember where I saw it. I'm just hoping they still have it in June.

Edit: Just realized you said Fantasmic....not Fantasmic Dinner Package. Fantasmic is definitely still going on.

I think you mean that the dinner plan has been d/c'ed. I have heard that rumor, and then heard that it had been extended for one month or so.

I have not heard ANYTHING about the show being d/c'ed...anybody else?

It's NOT Fantasmic! that's been discontinued, just the dinner-show preferred seating program. Unless something has changed in the last week or so since I made my ressies, that dinner-program is over as of tomorrow.

As of this morning (2/28), the Fantasmic! Dinner Package can be booked until March 31st. WDW Dining CMs are saying it keeps getting extended on a month to month basis.

However, if anything, the rumor is it will keep going beyond March but don't know when you'll be able to start calling on it. It's certainly not anything I can put on the PS Calculator yet!!

IMHO, if you can get Hollywood & Vine, this is a good deal. Especially if you have kids.

I read your post just as I was leaving work and you had orignally asked about Fantasmic being cancelled!

This is the first I have had a chance to check this out. From what I have read on these boards, it's not really advantageous to use the dinner package. I read somewhere that they stick you in an area where it is obstructed and/or to the very right hand side of the theatre.

I'm glad that I can still see Fantasmic this Easter.

I have it booked for March 10th CM never mentioned that the program was going to be cancelled!

The view is not obstructed. It is to the right, but the view is good. In busy season the only way to get in the center section (or sometimes to get a seat at all)is to get in line about 2-3 hrs before the show starts. Personally I'd rather be spending that time eating dinner and Mama Melrose.

Again as others have stated it appears that the Fantasmic Dinner package may be continued on a month to month basis.

We just made a PS for 13 on March 17th. They did require a CC to hold the PS, however they do not charge unless you fail to canel within 48HRS.

Hopefully business will be good for them and they will keep this program. We have used it on our last three visits. We would rather be out shopping or catching a last minute ride instead of standing, or sitting, in a line for two hours. :smooth:

I don't think there's any question about them keeping SOME KIND of dinner package. The question is what form it will take. Until recently, you could only reserve it from WDW, I think up to a week in advance, and there was no requirement as to what you ate at the restaurant. Now, you pay a fixed price for your meal (not sure if you have a limited or full menu) and can make PS for it.

The old program was better, because it gave you more flexibility. I hope they do discontinue what they're doing now. But, since it costs more this way to get your reserved seating, they'll probably keep it as is. The reason it's still on trial basis is they're trying to determine whether or not the fixed price is driving people away from it.

I did this package twice last year, both times at Hollywood & Vine. It was a good deal in the sense that the cost was precisely the standard buffet cost, plus 15% added gratuity. It was good for WDW because I may not have eaten at a sit-down restaurant without the package.

The dinner package sections are the rightmost two of the ten sections in the theatre. But not only is the view good, it is just as good as from any other seat. The show is designed so that everyone can see everything. I can't think of any other show where sitting in the center means so little. Furthermore in the Dinner Package sections you can sit whereever you want; you are not "herded" to a specific row as people are in the other sections.

The bad news is that both times I went, the theatre wasn't even full! I'm told this is unusual.
