Is the Fantasmic dinner package worth it? We weren't planning on being at DHS on a Fantasmic night, but now we will be. We are thinking about Mama Melrose for dinner if we get the package.

Absolutely worth it IMO. We eat a TS meal everyday anyway and it is great to have a guarnteed seat. If you ar going to try for it I would do so ASAP as they are really, really hard to get. it has apparently goteen like CRT. You have to be on the phone immedately on your ADR day to get one. I plan on booking an ADR online when it opens at 5 and trying to get a package when the phones open at six. If I get it I will cancel the ressie i made online. If not, at least I have a dinner ressie!

Unfortunately, it's not worth it, unless you want to eat dinner very early, when the package is offered. You will be told to line-up an hour before showtime, because they have eliminated the separate entrance for package diners that they used to use. You are not guaranteed a seat. They give them away oi the general public, some time before the show starts. So, if you're not lined-up early, you don't get a seat.
If you want to east dinner really early, then go for it. I'm not sure what they are doing right now, but at one time the package included an appetizer on the basic dining plan.

They did not have the seperate entrance the last time we went, but we did get in before those without a ticket. the were lined up waitng and the CM's let us through. About a half hour before the show they started letting them in, but kept the package section roped off and checked tickets untill about 15 min before show time. Yes you have to eat early, but we made it a late lunch and it worked out fine!

I thought the purpose for the Fantasmic package was to avoid having to stand in line? I've never done it so I dont know. Been trying desperately to get one the last 2 weeks with no luck but if it doesnt help you out as far as the hour/hour and a half wait in line then I wouldnt want it. I'd honestly rather eat at Sci Fi and was only trying to get a package to cut down on line time.

Glad I learned now.

We are going to try it on our upcoming trip. We have the package booked at Hollywood Brown Derby on Oct. 30. We had no trouble getting the reservation. On our most recent trip in January they were turning people away an hour before the show was scheduled to start. (they were filled to capacity) We are hoping this way we will be more likely to see Fantasmic! It is the only fireworks show we have only seen once on our recent trips and it has been 4 years so we really want to see it!

I thought it was worth it! We did the Fantasmic! package with Hollywood Brown Derby. The food was delicious and it was so nice to walk into the theater and have a great seat on a very crowded night. We were on the DDP and paid OOP, it was a good deal (you get an appetizer, entree and dessert) and we used our extra TS to go to California Grill another night.

We ate at Mama Melrose last night on the Fantasmic Package. It was definatley worth it, although we used the free dining DDP to pay.

Our reservation was for 5pm and we each got non alcholic drink (DD got shirly temple) appetizer, entree and dessert. It was a lot of food, but everything was fabulous. You could order anything on the menu no restrictions. You could even order the $14 antipasto or the appetizers for 2.

We walked right to Fantasmic about 60 minutes prior with no problems.

yep, that was our experience in May 2009, too. We saw people without the tickets starting to line up at Fantasmic theater ramp at 6:30 for a 9:00 show...so they were waiting for 2.5 hours for the show, first in line and then in their seats. We walked right in at 60 minutes and had our choice of seats in the reserved section...while the rest of the theater was full. We're doing Mama Melrose Dinner Package again in about 3 weeks...our reservation is 4:55.

We just did the FDP back in June. If you don't mind eating early, it can save you standing in line. We walked in an hour early & had a good choice of seats on the far right.
