Thinking of doing one of the dinner packages for Fantasmic. I have been reading that you need to show up at least 1 hour in advance to get a seat and really dont think my DD3 will be able to sit that long! Heard about the dinner packages - are these a good option. Which one should we do? Also is it worth it since if the show is cancelled due to weather we are just out all that money? Any thoughts? We missed Fantasmic on our last trip and really want to catch it this time. Also we will be there in January if this matters!

We always use the package when we are seeing Fantasmic. We like the option to not have to wait for a long period of time to ensure a seat. We have done Mama Melrose and Brown Derby. We liked both, with younger kids I would recommend Mama Melrose. My kids weren't crazy about BD.

I've always done the dinner package. With it, you have a separate entrance to Fantasmic and sit in the right-hand section. With the pkg, there really isn't a wait time; at least, not when we did it. Depending on crowd, you can easily wait until 30 min to showtime to get in.
However, some people much rather sit in the center section but I think right-hand side is fine.
Be advised, though. Rumor, or maybe fact by now, has it that Fantasmic is not being done everyday starting in January.

It's not a rumor. Fantasmic is currently scheduled to be shown only on Mondays and Thursdays starting the week of January 4 (for the month of January; February hours aren't available yet).

Just got mine reserved for Mama M. for Jan. 3. We always do the package...this gives us more time in the park for rides and shows, then a casual stroll to the Fant. show, since we don't mind sitting on the right hand side.

We opted for the dinner package because the thought of having to stand in line with our two children for too long doesn't sound fun to either of us. I'm thinking that we will always do the package from now on.

For you folks who have done the package before.... If we are there during X-mas (Dec. 19) when they are having two shows an everning. How early do you think we should show up to fantasmic? Our FP is at Mama Melrose, a really early ADR at 3:50 (the latest they said they had?) and the show is at 6:30.

With the package during the really busy holiday times...we show up an 1hr. before shows starts. Sometimes they have entertainment and sometimes the audience entertains our self...like doing the wave.:lmao:

Thanks for all the responses - I think we will go ahead and do the dinner package at Mama Melrose. What time hsould we make the ressie for in order to make it to the show or do they have set times already? I guess there will be only 1 show and only twice a week.

Fantasmic package dining times are usually very early. I don't recall seeing one before 6 PM.

Did you mean after 6pm?

Ours is really early. I'd actually call it a late lunch/early dinner (a little before 4 pm).

Ours is at 4:40pm (Aug) & I've tried to have it moved later a couple times, but nope...they like to get them done early to make sure you have plenty of time - it just cuts into our afternoon break time since it's a night EMH but oh well......

We've always done Hollywood & Vine - it's a buffet, includes drinks & desserts so everyone (picky DS) can pick whatever they want.

There is a 48-hr cancelation policy on fantasmic dinners & if it rains, yes, you are out the show but you've enjoyed the dinner. Now, the question is would you have dined there were it not for the package? If that's your concern, I've seen OP elsewhere comment they plan at least 2 evenings at DHS. They try to see fantasmic 3 nights before their package is scheduled, if they end up getting to see the show they 1) cancel the package prior to the 48 hr period or 2) keep it anyway knowing there's a good chance they'll get to see it again (no rain)

Fantasmic is my fav show but we have only 1 evening there next month so I'm crossing my fingers there is no rain cancelation!!!!

We had the dinner package in August and sat there for a long time - maybe it depends when dinner time is? :confused3

The package HANDS DOWN.:thumbsup2

We are trying BD for the first time with DD(age 7).
We did Hollywood and Vine and if your a buffet person it is a GREAT choice.
I have never been to Mama Melrose's but heard it was good from friends who ate there in the past. We have ADRs for Mama Melrose's this coming September too.:cool1:

BTW

We made two ADRs on seperate nights for BD with the Fantasmic Package.....we did not want to miss fantasmic in case of rain....it is that good!!! We will see it twice we like it that much.
