Hi Folks,
We'll be in the kindom in August and fancy doing one of the "Fantasmic Dinner Packages".
The reason behind this is, last time we were really fed up having to queue over an hour just to get a decent seat at the show.

Which is the best restaurant?
A) Hollywood & Vine
B) The Hollywood Brown Derby
C) Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano

Also how do they do it? Do you get a pass for reserved seating at Fantasmic. Or do they have a secret underground tunnel which gives you prime viewing at the show? (just kidding, nice thought though)

:confused3 :wizard: :confused3 :wizard: :confused3

We are doing Hollywood & Vine because its a buffet and we think it will be better for the kids. Have not tried the other two. After your meal you get a ticket (valid for that day only) which you use to get into the fantasmic package seating area.
:flower:

We are also doing Hollywood and Vine. I choose this one after reading lots of posts on these boards.

We go very soon. I haven't eaten in a park before, lets hope it's worth the extra cash.

:cool1:

We did the Fantasmic Package in 2003, oh so long ago, and we went to Hollywood & Vine. Good buffet style restaurant, plenty off choice and the service was excellent. Haven't tried the other two but I'm sure they are equally as good.
You got a voucher which you showed when you went in, the entrance is different, if memory serves me right it was as you go in on the right, when you get to the seating there are reserved seats for you, a lot easier abd quicker IMHO.
There is a question somebody maybe able to answer, how do you get the seating area right at the back of the seating, when we went there were people enjoying snacks and a beer, now thats how i'd like to watch it!
By the way Vizeman, good luck to Liverpool tonight, as a Man Utd fan it pains me but lesser of two evils I suppose!

We did Fantasmic Dinner Package at the Hollywood and Vine on our trip a few weeks ago. We chose Hollywood and Vine because we thought it would be more suitable for kids. The kids just love getting their own food in a buffet. They do give you a ticket for reserved seating - entrance at Oscars near the entrance gate, but it's not the best seating, as it is to the side slightly. But we did get a good view.

I'm looking forward to this one - I'm going for H&V and have heard good things about it.

Scottish_Maleficent - how busy where the parks when you visited? Was there major q's for ToT?

Hi!
We found the first week busy - waits of 90 minutes or so - but by the second week waits of 15 - 20 minutes.

WHEN YOU RING UP TO BOOK DO YOU PAY THE WHOLE AMOUNT ON YOUR CREDIT CARD OR IS IT TAKEN JUST IN CASE YOU DONT TURN UP? :cool1: :hourglass

Last year we went to Hollywood and Vine and will be doing the same again this year. The food is excellent and has a vast arrary of choice. I think this is the best option if you have children or are a picky eater.

You cannot really go wrong there.

Your credit card details are taken incase you don't turn up, nothing is charged at booking. You have up to 48hrs before to cancel, if you don't cancel and just don't show up they will charge you anyway.

I have done the fantasmic dinner package twice. Both times we ate at the hollywood and Vine. Food was excellent. :smooth:
I don't have picky kids, just a picky hubby !!! :rotfl:

I have been reading the threads about the dinner package and would love to do it this year how do i go about booking hope someone can help me out

Hi Patsy,

You can either reserve in advance by calling 001 407 WDW DINE (001 407 939 3463) or often if you just go to Guest Services on the day and ask about availability, you can book it that morning for the same day :)

If you are going at a "busy" time of year it might be best to book in advance, otherwise I'd probably chance it and book as soon as you enter MGM (or whatever park you are planning on being at that day before going to MGM for Fantasmic)

When I made our's at H & V, the CM said the card would be charged $10 per person if you didn't show up.

Hi thank you for letting me know we leave on May 14th staying at the cbr then off on the disney 4 day cruise then staying at the Wyndham palace for 2 weeks so do you think it will be ok to book on the day we go to Mgm

I would have thought you would be OK to do it when you get there - or ask CBR when you check in or ring Dining from your room phone when you arrive (free then!)

Have an absolutely fantastic time! You must be very excited!

hi, we did hollywood and vine fantasmic dinner package twice on our 2003 trip, food was great and it brillaint not to have to queu for hours, doing the mama melrose package this time, for achange of scenery, although would've definately gone back to H& V if we couldn't've get mama melrose. :cool1:

Thanks everyone, it seems the concensus of opinion is Hollywood & Vine so that's what we'll do.

Not far out, actually! Dinner Package guests enter next to Oscars (just to the right as you enter the park). You aren't centre stage, but if you want to be at the back, just make sure you are one of the first to arrive (at least 45 minutes before - you are instructed to arrive 30- minutes before the show anyway). Having said that, once you arrive, you can make your way to any free seat in the ampitheatre.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, we did the package on Monday this week. We ate at Mama Melrose's for the first time in years and we were very pleasantly surprised.
