Fantasmic dinner package questions?

We've never done this before and would like more info. We reserved Hollywood & Vine and they took my credit card - do they charge me ahead of time? What if I'm on dining plan? Are the reserved seats good? Is it a character meal in December? Thanks so much for all your help!

Yes it is a character meal and I thought the seats were good, though I got there early as it filled up much more after me.

Your credit card is used to secure, as if no show, they charge to the card used to secure. When you get to HV, they will ask how you want to pay. Then can say use my dining credits.

It is a good use of a credit.

Like any buffet, some of the food was good, some eh. I thought it was better than Chef Mickeys. I too am not a fan of buffets, but with a adult kid and DH that eats everything, and a teen who is picky, all find enough to eat. And the characters are certainly why the price is high. I hope you enjoy eating there.

Dining package reserved seats are the center section... which is the best section to sit in. The earlier you get there, the closer to the front you can sit (I would advise against sitting in the first 5 rows or so, that is a splash zone, and your view isn't quite as good as being up a little higher). They eventually open up the section to stand by guests, so be sure to get there (at the absolute latest) by the time listed on the entrance ticket they'll give you at Hollywood and Vine. In general, we get there about 35 min before show time, and get seats in rows 5-10, which are great. However, there is always the chance that seats can fill up faster than "average" so to guarantee "best" seats, get there 45-50 min before show time.

They'll only charge the card you gave them if you are a no-show (and don't cancel by the deadline, which I think is 24 hours). When you get there, you can tell them you are on the plan, and will charge the plan accordingly.

It is always a character meal.

Food is good. Lots of variety. It's a fun experience. Great use of a dining credit.

Though, if I were paying OOP, I would rather pay for the Brown Derby Fantasmic package. But, I do NOT think Brown Derby package is worth 2 dining credits. We have the dining plan for our Aug trip, and booked the H&V package.

We like the H&V Fantasmic dining package. We like character meals in general so this kills two birds with one stone by also offering a Fantasmic ticket. I think the food there is good for buffet fare. It's not fine dining but there's enough decent to good food that you can leave completely full. They also have ice cream and dessert there, and my kids love that.
The seating for the Fantasmic dining package section is the best in my opinion.

Hello. I'm looking at the Fantasmic+Pixar Music package. Can you tell me if you have to pick Pixar show time when you make dining reservation?

Also it states it comes with appetizer, entree, dessert and drink. I'd that with dining plan too? I'm looking at mama melrose on the regular DDP

When you make the ADR, you'll be told which Pixar show. You can not choose which one you want. Each dining time gets a specific show to go with it. If you want a particular show, you can try to call them and ask what times will result in that particular show. Don't know if this will work.

Yes, it comes with app, entrée, dessert, and drink at melorse. But, dessert is a sampler platter for the table, and not off the menu.

Adding to your question, we originally booked Hollywood and Vine for lunch, thinking we would get the Fantasmic passes, but that doesn't happen...only with dinner.
We want to keep our reservation, so does anyone know if by using a FastPass, if the seats are good?

We booked lunch and it says Fantasmic right on our reservation confirmation so I'm not sure what you mean?

If it doesn't say it then it your adr is not the package.

The package is available for lunch and dinner. If you book it online you have to do it from the fantasmic package page, not the restaurant page.

If you call to book you have to specifically ask for the package.

Looks like questions answered.If on DDP, just advise CM when paying bill. As OP mentioned CC is just to guarantee and charged if no show or don't cancel in time. F! Dining package, I believe has a 2D cancel polity unlike regular ADR @ H&V, but it will be listed in email confirmation (also stated under Guest Policies before confirming ADR).

F! Dining Packages have the best seats.

Also, Hollywood & Vine now offers Seasonal Meals, for Christmas.....
