Fantasmic! Dining Packages

For the Fantasmic Package at Brown Derby you now pay for what you order...but you have to book it under the Fantasmic Package.

For Mama Melrose and Hollywood & Vine it is a set price for the Fantasmic Package. At Mama Melrose you pay one price (as if you were going to a buffet) and get to choose one appetizer, one entree, one dessert, and a non-alcoholic drink per paid package. At Hollywood & Vine, it is a buffet so all you need to do is book it as a Fantasmic Package.

If you are not on the Fantasmic Package, Mama Melrose is a regular restaurant and you order of fthe menu and pay for what you order.

All that being said...we always fo the Fantasmic Package at least once per trip. The seating is not the best in the theater but it is seating. We have walked up on nights we did not have the package and the line to get into the theatre is all the way back to the main drag at 45 minutes prior to show time! I don't want to stand around in line or even sit in the theatre seats that long when I could be doing something else. So, we'll take the seats off to the right side.

Also, I know they say you don't "pay" for the reserved seating but I say you do...in most cases. Normally, we order the more expensive items (they just happen to be what we want) but if I ordered them and paid for them without hte package, it always comes out at leat $10.00 cheaper than with the Fantasmic Package. So, in essence, you are paying for the seats. Maybe if everyone in your party ordered the most expensive appetizer, entree, and dessert on the menu you'd make out not having to pay for the seats but how many of us do that???

But when faced with paying a little extra and getting some good food and not having to wait in line to enter the theatre for over an hour, I'll pay the little bit extra.

Oh, and we have done the package at both Brown Derby and Mama Melrose...we liked them both!

Ok, just looked at menus and wanted to clarify. It would be possible to book the Fantasmic package, and then show up and just order appetizers and beverages? No required purchase price? I am with a group of 11 and we wouldn't have the Brown Derby budgeted in for a dinner, but we could do this with appi's.

So would you be able to use the Mama Melrose Fantasmic package on the DDP since it involves an appetizer?

We're not on the DP but will probably get the TIW, you can use that on the Fantasmic Package, right?

My main concern is that we'd like to see Fantasmic show but we hate waiting. Do you have to show up 30 minutes before the show or 45 with the package? What happens if you can't get there until 25 or 15 minutes before the show begins? Are your reserved seats gone? Doesn't that kind of defeat the point of buying the package?

Last question - how different is the Florida Fantasmic from the DLR version for anybody who has seen both? We like the DLR version, its fun but we don't make a point to see it every trip since we're not particularly "Wow'ed" by it the way we feel about the fireworks and World of Color, which do have the wow factor. If its very similar to the DLR version with not a lot of extras then we may as well skip it.

TIA!

Just booked a Fantasmic dinner package for September for Hollywood and Vine. I booked online and noticed a disclaimer that said "Your party may be seated at separate tables"

What? We have 3 adults and 1 child. Certainly not a large party. Would they really put us at different tables?

"This discount cannot be combined with any other discount or package. This includes events such as Fantasmic Dinner Package, Epcot Food and Wine Festival Events, and Candlelight Dinner Packages.

What happens if you can't get there until 25 or 15 minutes before the show begins? Are your reserved seats gone? Doesn't that kind of defeat the point of buying the package? I believe they will open the reserved seating to the general public 20 minutes prior to showtime, so you will want to be there at LEAST 25 minutes prior to the start of the show.

This is a standard disclaimer for all reservations, even for a party of 1. You should be just fine.

Of course not - it's for larger parties.

Thanks smitch! I think we'll pass on the Fantasmic dining package. Between no TIW and it being similar to the DLR one (I should probably just watch the YouTubes to compare), it probably won't be worthwhile for us.

Guess we'll just have to hope for a second showing of F! one of the 10 nights we have in the park ... then if we get to see it, great, if not DH said he's okay with skipping because waiting more than a half hour to us is definitely not worth it.

We've seen both and like the DLR show much more. If you aren't especially impressed by the DLR version, you'll probably like the DW version even less. Major differences include: instead of the Columbia sailing ship/Peter Pan/Capt Hook sequence DW has a Pocahontas scene, no Pinocchio scene, and instead of the finale with the Mark Twain riverboat it's a much smaller "boat."

The amphitheater makes seating much better at DHS. It is probably the best improvement over the DLR version.
