fantasmic! dining package or grand gathering safari?

Unfortunately, we have to pick one or the other, since each are only offered once during our stay, on the same night. Which one would you do? We will have kids ranging from 8-3 in our group.

When are you going? Is the F. Package still available for your dates? If it is then grab it!! I love Fantasmic, and if you've never seen it, you should try.

But these packages go really fast. If you can't get it, then you can try the grand gathering safari (I know absolutely nothing about this particular offering.)

Is F! showing only once during your trip? If so then F!, if not, you can see F! minus the package so I'd do the safari.

We are going nov. 28 (Monday) through dec. 3 (saturday) Fantasmic! is offered on Sunday and Thursday, and the Safari is only on thursday. We were so bummed to find out we couldn't do both. I just keep praying they add a fantasmic night, but from prior years, it doesn't look likely Oh well. We'll still be at Disney! Woohoo! Just having a hard time choosing which would be better for everyone in our group.

Your 180 day window will be open real soon. I would encourage you to get the F. package on your 180 day. It really is worth it in my opinion: our whole family really enjoys the show (and you have to eat anyway,right?). And not having to stand in line for over an hour at the end of a long day is a really big deal.

Safari hands down

That Safari is after hours in AK, so instead of getting the rushed can't stop for long version you get during the day, the drivers will stop for elongated periods of time when there are interesting animals, or in areas where animals come out.

Then, the dinner at Tusker is great and it's neat to then walk through AK at night after the dinner. There are private character meets and some animal experts at Tusker for the kids.

I love F! and we've done the dinner package at both MM and HBD, I'd be pretty sad to miss it in a trip but the grand gathering Safari was one of the best WDW experiences we've had.

Also, consider that you may not be going to WDW in a grand gathering often, so take advantage of this now. You can go to F! any year you go.

You have to be traveling in a group of either 8/9 or more. There are 3 or 4 different special meals you can do. They all involve characters, an event (safari, illuminations, philharmagic, etc.) and you get a GG trading pin! If you do a search of the boards you should find a lot of info. However, they have to be booked through the grand gatherings phone number.

We did all the GG meals - the only one worthwhile is the Safari. The international buffet (illuminations one) sounds great, but the food is drab, the entertainment is so so and the "preferred" fireworks viewing location is a joke - especially if you have kids who can't see over the bushes/railing.

Dinner package or not, Fantasmic! is a MUST; It's a Disney classic, that combines some of their best when it comes to live entertainment, It's one thing I could'nt imagine not seeing when going to Disney
