I was just wondering if you can make a Fantasmic package ressie and pay OOP? I'm assuming you can...so then I was also wondering, is there a set menu for Mama Melrose for the package that you must pay for in order to get the Fantasmic voucher, or can I order an appetizer. We would like to eat lunch at Sci Fi and I'm seeing that the dining packages are quite early for dinner...so I"m worried that the original plan of Sci Fi for lunch and Hollywood and Vine for dinner will be too much food too close together. Thoughts? TIA!!!

Also, can we do lunch at Hollywood and Vine with the characters for our Fantasmic package?

You have to make a reservation specifically for the Fantasmic Dinner Package and it can be paid for OOP. It is a fixed price that varies depending on which of the restaurants you choose.

Hollywood and Vine is a buffet and can only be booked for dinner (no characters) for the F!DP.

At both Mama Melrose and Brown Derby you are entitled to an appetizer, entree, dessert and non alcoholic beverage. You order from the restaurant's regular menu, although at MM the dessert is a pre-selected dessert sampler served family style. At these 2 restaurants you pay the fixed price per person regardless of whether you choose to order all 3 courses or just one or two of the courses.

The times set aside for the F!DP tend to be mainly between around noon and not much later than 5:00 PM.

Here's a link that includes prices at the 3 restaurants:

Here's a very detailed description of Fantasmic and the Dining Package:

I agree that Sci Fi lunch and H&V dinner can be a lot of food fairly close together, although you could try SciFi as soon as it opens around 11:00 and H&V around 4:30 or 5:00. We usually do the F!DP for lunch. Since we go during the off season F! is usually at 7:00 so we do a late dinner afterwards.

Thank you so much for that information!!

I did see some of that...but I wasn't sure about the set menu for Mama Melrose. I'm thinking maybe a lunch then and dinner right before the show at Sci Fi. Does anyone know what time Fantasmic plays in August?

Thanks! I ended up calling and was told 9pm...no second show. I'm actually quite frustrated that the calendar for August hasn't come out yet...people can start making their ressies for August in two days and no official calendar...ugh.

So I also had two cast members tell me two different things. One said I can make a lunch ressie at the character lunch at H&V for F! package and the other one said that they won't know until 180 days out what ressies I can and can't make. Help?

Here you go for the Aug calendar. The Travel Agents' calendar comes out earlier than the Disney site calendar. It is also more accurate and usually shows updates before Disney:

As far as what the CMs said. So far the H&V package has only been for dinner. The restaurant can get enough people for the character meals, but the F!DP is one way to increase diners at an otherwise not high in demand meal. The first CM was incorrect and the second CM was saying the typical "cover myself just in case the rules change."

Thank you!!! I've actually been changing around my schedule after seeing the EMH on the schedule :)

So I guess the ultimate question is whether the dining package for F! is worth it? I don't mind standing in line if I'm going to get better seats and we can enjoy a fun meal at Sci Fi instea of stuffing our faces at both restaurants. I don't think H&V or MM would be on our list to eat at anyways. Can I send the kids to ride something/get a snack/etc while I wait in line for F!?
