Fantasmic Dining is More Popular than I Thought

To answer the answers:

I didn't try the HBD because its more than I want to pay. Our trip partially coincides with free dining, but we're not on the dining plan. Buying the dining plan would be too expensive for us. We only have two ADRs (and this is one of them) for the whole trip. We never spend anywhere near what DDP costs to buy.

As to why we are doing the Fantasmic package, we want to see Fantasmic, and we don't want to spend a lot of time waiting for it. Last time we were at WDW, in early February (before President's Day rush), we arrived an hour beforehand and couldn't get seats or even a place to stand. This time, we definitely want to see it, but I'd rather buy dinner and show up 45 minutes early than show up 90 minutes early.

Thanks for the suggestion about calling back later to see if anything opens up. Is there a good day to call? If we wanted to see the show on a Tuesday should we phone on a Tuesday? Tuesday morning?

Well, if you get there at 45 minutes before and then see better seats, you are welcome to move to them. You won't be 'trapped' in the package section but at least you know you are guaranteed a seat. The end of August isn't as bad as the time around President's week.

Keep calling in hopes of a cancellation also, in my experience, more, later times are sometimes released within 30 days of the trip.

My ADR date is Sunday & the closer I get the more I kept doubting all my choices. My biggest doubt was to Fantasmic Package or Not to Package.

This thread has been great form me!

We'll be there Saturday, Sept 1st (Yep, Labor Day weekend) and hope to see the show without the package. We have ADRS at MM for 6:40, plan to be out of there by 7:50 and head to the show -- I've sat in the very last row before and enjoyed myself. Yes, I'd rather be middle of the stadium but we are not willing to wait any more than 30 or 40 minutes to get seats. Wish us luck:thumbsup2
