Good afternoon! I've been reading about Fantasmic and viewing, and anything else I can find. We are going March 16-19 (week before Easter :scared1: ) and it will be VERY crowded! Do you all think the dessert buffet / viewing spots are really worth the cost? It is me and DD15 only. It seems like a lot of $$ for a good spot. So, do you think it is better to see the first or second show when crowds are really high? And can anyone recommmend good spots to try / how early to get to good spots?
Lots of questions!!!! Thanks DiSers!! :dance3:

the only place i've seen F! at DLR is from the balcony, which I guess is no longer an option. I've done the dessert twice and was on the 2nd balcony once through another channel.

was it worth it? it might have been for the first performance, but i never did go to the first performance because usually they lock you in there for the fireworks and, in my opinion, you're doing yourself a disservice watching Remember.. from anywhere but Main Street.

i won't get into the specifics of the balcony because that's no longer an option, but the way I always understood it, the riverside is close enough that you can feel the fire, but is a bit off center, which shouldn't be a huge deal, but i'd probably do what i can to be in the center. also, unless they changed the procedure, you would check-in about an hour ahead, then return later to be seated, all of which was done on a first come, first serve basis. on the flip side, it was almost never full (but again, not sure how this is affected by the closing of the disney gallery).

i guess the best advice is just go to the 2nd performance if you can and just stake out your own spot. if you want to make it extra special or can only do the first performance, then i'd probably consider the reserved seating.

Here is the picture of the box of goodies you get for the dessert. You also get a choice of coffee, hot choc. or coke product soda. For us it was worth it has we have a 3.5 year old very active daughter that would have never sat in one spot for 2 hours to get a good seat. We were in the front row and it was great. we had to check in at 7 to get on the list and then come back at 8:30 to get to our seats.

ok so I was trying to post a pic but not sure how.... hmmmm

For two people, I would be willing to splurge and do it. I just cannot justify the cost for our whole family of four.

We have always been able to luck out and stake a good spot not too far before the first show (usually behind one of the light towers since many people don't realize they go up and open up a good viewing vantage point) at least once a trip.

We didnt do the reserved seating thing and easily got a good spot about 15 min before the show. We saw the second showing of it, right after the fireworks were over. We just walked through Frontierland and we were sort of towards the right, but had a great view.

Thanks everyone!
If you go to the second show, will you be fighting against the crowds trying to leave after the fireworks to get to a spot? This is my first trip to DL, so I am not sure how it is all layed out. The second show sounds like a good option because it is just me and DD15, so maybe some of the families with small children will go to the first show to get to bed earlier?? I have always gone to WDW in low crowd times, so I am crazy worried about the crowds during a peak time! :scared1: Thanks again for all of your help!! :goodvibes

When my family went in October (6 of us), we were on Main Street for the fireworks and had to fight like all heck to get to our reserved Fantasmic seats for the 10:30 show. We would never had seen the show without the reserved seats. The fact I had already spent the money for the seats was probably the only thing keeping my family heading in that direction. Otherwise, I am sure we would have bailed. I really liked the dessert box. We took tons of stuff with us, because there is definitely more than you need in one sitting. I wouldn't do the reserved seating every time, but then I don't watch Fantasmic every time I go, either. I was taking family who had never seen it before, and I was worried (rightly so) that we couldn't get a spot without shucking the buck.

I thought of another question, is the dessert box per person? Just wondering because people have different numbers of people in their groups??? Thanks again for your help!!

Every person gets their own box. No sharing required. You might want to make trades, though. I highly recommend the raspberry-filled cookie. Yummy!

It just depends....
for the desserts, no
for the seats, yes
to avoid camping out for hours, yes
for the cost, still undecided

We went in November. Our family has mixed opinions. I am glad we had the seats but am not so sure Fantasmic is my kind of show. My husband LOVED it all! The desserts were okay but nothing out of this world. They give you plenty but unfortunatley most of ours went to waste.

All things considered, my husband enjoyed it so much that it will be on our "to-do-list" from now on!

my whole family loves fantasmic. (mostly the dragon and melifcent lol) so for sure next time we go since were not doing a tour or anything we will do it. and last time we didnt get to see fantasmic so this will be a good garintie we do.

Could someone please let me know the pricing, the window for making reservations and how one might make reservations (phone number?) We're planning our first trip, for this July, and this is something that we'd like to consider...

Thanks!! :goodvibes
