Fanny packs?

Yes, you will look like a dork. Yes, you will be laughed at. Just be prepared for that.

Since it seems to be common compared to the other posts, you must laugh at a lot of people at the world huh? :P

Thank you to everyone :) We will most likely take them off for pictures, definitely but it will just put me at ease to wear one and have everything close to us!! Glad to know we're not the only ones who wear them :D

So yeah, I don't trust myself to not leave a bag somewhere and I'm afraid of someone stealing things out of the backpack behind me... so the option left is fanny packs worn to the side.

But here's my question. Are they common at WDW? Are we going to look like the world's biggest dorks in the parks? The ones we have are here: http://www.ebags.com/high_sierra/corkscrew/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=18414 and they hold just about everything! I love them, but I'm just convinced people are going to chuckle lol

Thanks for any advice and move this if needed. :)

I have been looking for a good size fanny pack that has good clasps for a while now. I went to the link that you sent and I think I will buy that one. Thanks for the link. I can't waer a backpack because they pull on the muscles around my next. My DW wears her Pooh backpack there all the time.

I love my fanny pack that i wear on the hip. We got 2 cool ones from Kraft singles upc codes they were dark green and had Disneys "The Wild" on it. We had gotten them for the kids but they were to big. So DH and I wore them big enough for my camera, wallet a bottle of pain releiver, and a jacket. I have no problem wearing them, I would rather do that instead of a backpack or large purse. :thumbsup2

They are quite common. In the past, I've worn mine on either hip. This year I was a bit more self-conscious, and switched it from shoulder to shoulder instead. Unfortunately, it meant I had really sore shoulders at the end of each day. Eh, ah well. I'm used to that, what with the "Mary Poppins bag" that I carry around all over the place normally. :teeth:

I am a firm believer that Disney is THE ONLY place where you can get away with wearing a fanny pack and won't be laughed at. It's very common at Disney and you'll be fine!
:thumbsup2 I second this, WDW, Sea World are the ONLY places I will wear one. I find them to be the best.

In May, and found it to be too cumbersome, so I bought a Mickey Fanny pack and have worn that ever since. It has the right amount of Pockets, and is small, so it does a great job. However, I didn't bring it on my last trip, wore a different one, which came opened and I lost my wallet :guilty: (it was turned in and I picked it up the next day), so now I am downsizing. No fanny pack, just a small wallet that fits in my pocket, and a camera, THATS IT! ;) :teeth:

I hate fanny packs...BUT, got so tired of having a bag, or backpack we bought one at Disney and that is the ONLY place we use one...so take it and have a GREAT TIME!

If you wear the fanny pack, at least you will believe the funny looks are because of that. :)

Seriously, I'm a very cool dude (aren't we all?) and I wear one @ WDW only. We just returned from a trip 12/2-12/10 and when we came back my DS8 wanted the matching bag (refused any others I tried to buy). We made it to Sears tonight and got him the exact match. The phrase of the trip was "let Daddy get it out of his purse". I won't even wear pink, or even worse... Crocs!!!! Ok, sorry for the low blow on the Crocs, but I have too much pride. :rotfl:

HEY HEY HEY...you better watch it. You are going to start a new thread with that comment! :rotfl:
Just for the record, I never liked Crocs much myself. BUT, fell in love with the new Disney Crocs and ordered them for everyone in my family! To make things even better...they just arrived today! I will make sure to wear them with my fanny pack!!!

I love my fanny pack and never really thought about the dork factor. We go to DL 3 times a year. I never noticed that there weren't others wearing them. I admit that I don't wear it on other vacations though...but at Disney who cares and it beats having to schlep stuff around in a back pack or purse when dealing with the rides. Don't worry you're in good company! :thumbsup2 Marilyn

This year since we have a 2 yr old, one of us will have a backpack and one will have a fanny pack. The backpack will only have "diaper bag" type items in it. If anyone steals that, they will be greatly dissapointed. :lmao:

its true.
im 16, and when i see someone wearing one i usually laugh..but at disney its just kinda like " oh, well its disney, everyone wheres 'em"

I wear them no matter where I'm vacationing - and I also wear them when I go out for a day of serious garage sailing.. I'm more concerned about my own comfort rather than what people who I will likely never see again think.. :thumbsup2

I wear mine at the zoo too! Camera fits in there, and during the lights before Christmas we keep gloves, hand warmers, wallet, EVERYTHING in it... it's so nice!

As stated in many of the previous posts you will fit right in wearing a fanny pack in WDW...That being said I feel the need to add...IT IS NEVER COOL OR OKAY TO WEAR A FANNY PACK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PERIOD. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. Stuff your pockets, carry a backpack, get someone else in your party to wear one, but whatever you do, avoid getting sucked into this dork-trap.
;) KIDDING... Do what you want.

I currently don't have a fanny pack but am considering getting one for this trip. My back always hurts at the end of the day and I lug way to much stuff through the parks. I thought this might lighten my load. My question is which one do you use and why do you like it?

I don't get whats so funny about them? :confused3 Maybe it's just because I'm so used to seeing my dad wear one because of medical issues. And some of my friends where them. Heck I wear them sometimes. Maybe I'm just too weird
