I have lurked for a while but remember seeing a post where someone bought a fanny pack with 2 water bottles on each side. Has anyone ever used these?? I know they are pretty expensive but before I bouht one I wanted to make sure it was worth the money. I know a couple of people wrote to say they were heavy and sweated on their clothes making it looked like they had had an accident.

Does anyone know first hand how well these work?

We bought them, but I don't like them. We're leaving it home on our upcoming trip. For one thing, the bottles (even just one) makes it heavier than what's comfortable. And, even though we started out with frozen water bottles everyday - the FL heat melted it, and had it warm in no time at all. Not worth it in my opinion.

We have been using one for years. Bought it at LLBean and use it for Disney trips, hiking.... The plastic water bottles do sweat if we put ice in them, so we usually just fill them with cold water and refill as needed. My husb is usually the one to wear it. However, I have also. I'm only 5'2" and do not find it heavy or uncomfortable. We love ours.

We have one that my DH has worn and never complained. But I carried it around last weekend while camping with my Girlscouts and I decided it was too cumbersome and heavy, I'll let DH carry it from now on.

I have one I've used when touring with my kids. It wasn't expensive...it is Eddie Bauer brand sold at Target for maybe $25. I used the side water bottle pockets for our damp ponchos on rainy days. The kids could carry their own water. <g>

When I tour the parks solo, I don't bother with this bag. I carry very little, and I drink from the water fountains rather than carry water around.

I think the post you are refering to was started by mudnuri. It got a little heated and may have been locked although I don't know for sure. I think Brandy and family are still in FL or just back. PM her I'm sure she'll let you know how she liked her's. I have 1 with the water bottles that I put regular bottles in (I stick a paper towel in the hole with the bottle) and 1 without that's even larger. That one I used as a diaper bag and attached it to our jogger. The other either DH wore or I wore. I never had a problem and it was comfy. Mine's a columbia (I think) We like these much better than the backpack. not 1 person is schleping it all. We use them all summer at Storyland and Santa's Village in NH The almost 6 yr old carries his own stuff in the fisher price one but the strap now bugs him so I'm off to find on for this yr. with a bigger strap. I have enough sewing to do I'm not revamping it!

I saw a number of people using them at WDW. I found it cumbersome (both walking around and when seated on the rides). I ended up using a bottle carrier with a loop on it, and using one of those big clips (I forget what they are called, but they are knockoffs of the clips that rock climbers use) to clip it to a ring on my fanny pack or backpack. It bounced against my leg when I walked, but didn't bother me and it was easier to position on the rides (and not as hot as having all of that stuff strapped around my waist).

I've worn mine for years at football practice (kids and new coaches always try to make fun of me until it gets really hot and they are thirsty and looking at me refreshed) Just make sure you position it right. I love mine.

Rather than carry water at Disney, I prefer using the Brita Sport water bottle. It filters the water straight out of the fountain, so the taste is better, the water is colder, and the weight is not there. I'm sure that the Brita would fit in the pockets of your fanny pack.

Several years back, I purchased small frontpacks for my two boys at FleetFarm. They were camoflage colored with a picture of Flick on them. The pouch is large enough for a rain poncho, disposable camera and a small snack. On the side is a pocket that can hold a waterbottle. If I buy the very small size water bottle, the boys can each carry their own and it's not too heavy. That way we don't have to carry drinks for them or share the same bottle. If we purchase a larger one or get a cup of water at the parks, the boys each refill theirs.

They have taken these packs everywhere: vacations, scout camp, biking . . .

Now that they are a bit older, I'm looking for a more "grown-up" version, but one that is still small. Anyone else see anything like this?

Maybe I should rethink this though. My younger one has left his behind in a few restrooms, and it has never been taken or had items removed from it (sometimes it's an hour before we realize it's missing). I'm guessing in part this is because it is obviously one for a child????

Don't Laugh.............

but.....I use my dog's Outward Hound 2 bottle fanny pack. :goodvibes

It holds the Britta bottle and works nicely!!

Why carry around a full bottle of water that's just gonna get warm from the hot sun! Carrying an empty bottle and filling it as I go sounds like a better deal to me!

We have one and have used it for many years. Usually my DH wears it. We love it. It has plenty of room for our camera and a snack or two, some souviners and has room left over. The water bottles have never given us any problems. We got ours for about 10 bucks. A great bargain.

Hope this helps.

I have one that I carry as well. I find it's more comfortable when the "bag" part is in the back (they don't call it a FANNY pack for nothing). Another trick to making the water taste better is to ask for lemon at your restaurant, then throw the slice into the bottle. It will take a bit of the edge off the taste.

As to the kids pack, Coleman makes one that my son has carried for a few years. It's in the camping section at Target. I think it's blue and purple, so it might fit your son better.

We have one that we got from LL Bean two years ago. Best $20 we ever spent! DH wears it and we fill the bottles every time we come to a water fountain. Never had any problem with the taste.

Also, it keeps you from spending $2 every time you want a bottle of water - keeps you hydrated, etc, etc.

We love ours.

I just use a plain, cheap fanny pack from Wal-mart and also bought a plastic insulated water bottle with a strap from Wal-Mart for a couple of dollars. When I get tired of carring the bottle on my shoulder, I wrap the strap around my fanny pack to attach it and it works just the same as some of the expensive ones with the water bottle holders.
