I have six kids traveling with me and DH to DL in late March. Each of the kids will have an autograph book, H20 Bottle and a camera. Should I get them each a fanny pack or should I have everybodys stuff in my backpack?? Can they take those on the rides??? Can you take a backpack into the park???

Galicia :goodvibes

Yes, you can take a backpack into the parks. And bring all the water you want. Bringing in snacks and drinks is technicaly not allowed, but in reality is permitted if done within reason.

When we travel with our four, here is our standard equipment:

1. Everyone with their own water bottle and bottle holder on their waste

2. Everyone with a walkie-talkie radio

3. If in the summer, a battery operated water spray bottle with fan

Granola snacks, etc., are usually carried in my fanny back. If they have a camera, it goes around their neck or in a pocket.

Just a side note, it can be EXTREMELY warm during the day at DL and EXTREMELY cold at night. Get a locker and plan accordingly.

I vote get 'em each a fanny pack. Or something. Make them each responsible for their own stuff. You sooooo do not want to be the one hauling a backpack full of six cameras, six autograph books, eight bottled waters, and so forth.

I too vote for getting them their own bag to carry. That would make your bag really heavy and with 8 of you all together, you would be getting in and out of your bag ALL day long. I think I would carry all the important things though, camera's, etc...depending on their ages.

The last trip, I gave DS3 his own backpack for the plane (just a small, clear type that the toy tool set came in), and when Park time came, he HAD to have it to carry his own stuff! (I was so proud!) so I threw in his water bottle, and his own pull-ups and wipes, and he was so happy! He wore it all day long, i was very suprised!
Good luck!

My husband and I each got a fanny pack large enough for two granola bars, $, sani-wipes, one autograph book, and water bottle. I purchased a really good wick water away type with two bottles for my daughter and myself. You can purchase at a running store or sport store ours were each less than $ 10.00 CDN.

We brought all the essentials like that in fanny packs and it worked out great. But I'd suggest unless it's really hot put extra snacks in instead of the water. There are water fountains everywhere!!!!! The days after we ditched the bottles and loaded up on trailmix. The kids didn't like the extra bulk in their packs when they would get ready to be strapped in for a ride. Just a though.

Or you can just buy a lasso strap for $3.25 and be used for a long long long long long time! ^_^

My kids wear their own fanny packs and they each have their camera, their autograph book, a small water bottle, individual snack bags like pretzels or goldfish, a lollipop that tinkerbell brought the night before and their gameboys for waiting in long lines! It works out great and they have no trouble getting in and out of rides. The waterbottles are the small ones and we just refill them throughout the day because I don't want them getting out of a long ride line to go get a drink! We usually go into the "buffeterias" where they have cold water dispensers like the Riverbell to refill them.

My dd is 7 and I had a lot of trouble finding a pack that fit her well but she loves pooh and they had the cutest one at the pooh store at the end of the park past the pooh ride and splash mountain exit. It has a small stuffed pooh that looks like it hugging her waist and it easily holds all this stuff! She got it when she was 5 and still loves it for her DL trips. My ds is 11 and would die if anyone saw him wear a fanny pack but at DL, it is okay and the fact that they do not have to keep asking me for stuff is a strong incentive especially with the snacks.

If we are going to go all day, I bring a backpack for warm clothes and some extra snack and put it in a locker. You do not want to carry a backpack all around all day long and trust me, you do not want to be carrying all the kids stuff either. You will spend you whole day digging in the backpack and your shoulders will hurt the next morning!

I'd say skip the water bottles. The food places will give you a cup of ice water for free if you ask. Last summer my DH would get us 5 or so cups a day and it was nice to not have to carry around the water.

If you take water bottles, the place we love to refill at DL is at Rancho Del Zocalo. You can go inside and refill your bottles with ice in the soda/drink dispenser area, and then go outside to the eating area and there is a cold water tap in the center of the eating area.

On hot days we go to RDZ, fill up on ice and cold water, and drink down a couple bottles of water while we rest for a few minutes. Then we refill the bottles one last time and head out. During busy times be careful not to take up a table which people who have paid for food inside might want.

If I was a " large person" can I get onto a ride, with fanny pack around my waist and still have the seatbelt/bar fit across my waist? What does one do with a back pack/fanny pack that cannot fit? Is it okay to leave with the ride engineer?:happytv:

We wore fanny packs on all rides with no problem. Sometimes you need to shift it to the side a bit to fit. Skip the water bottles to reduct bulk and weight. You might want to get a collapsible cup to put in a pack for "just in case". Rent a big locker first thing before they are gone. We always take sweatshirts for evening. If you need to take a change of clothes or big diaper bag, leave it in the locker and just carry the bare essentials. The one year I took a nylon shoulder bag, I got stuck with it most of the time and it got heavy as everyone added more "stuff". Never again!
