In your opinion, what is the best way to carry cameras, cell phones, park passes, money, maps, etc. in the parks? Is a fanny pack the way to go? A bag that goes across the body? A backpack?

Does anyone have any advice or a favorite bag of their own?

Thanks! :wave2:

I do fanny pack for money/tickets/digital camera/cell phone.

Backpack (dh carries it) for camcorder, ponchos, snacks, extra batteries.

When we go "kidless" DH carries a fannypack and I carry NOTHING :)...

When we take the DD7 princess: we (as in I) carry a backpack.

Just seems like we have a lot more "stuff" to cart around. Glow toys for the parades, all the "stuff" that she picks out in the stores :rolleyes1 , wet wipes, lip balm, etc etc etc blah blah blah

I like having a place to put everything...makes life easier...just gets a bit heavy every once in awhile!! :confused3 I don't know a way to not have to carry around all that stuff though.

I've done both on one trip or another. I much prefer to carry a fanny pack because everything is so much more accessible.

With the backpack, I had to take it off everytime I wanted something which wasn't always convenient at that moment. Then, inevitably what I was looking for had made its way to the very bottom of the bag so I had to dig for it. Not to mention that everyone on the trip thought I would have no problems stuffing just one more thing in there, so I ended up being a human pack mule.

Really, you have to decide which you prefer: more space but less convenience or more convenience but less space.

I got a super leather fanny pack one year for Christmas and I carry that. Part of my vacation is that nothing is in my hands at any time!! I put the rain ponchos in a disney bag and loop that through the fanny pack band so still hands-free :cheer2:
IMO, the bigger the "bag" you choose, the heavier you will stuff it and the more uncomfortable it becomes. I say--simplify :wave2: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I prefer a fanny pack, because it's smaller and you can sit down on a ride or in a restaurant and lean against the backrest without having to take it off. You only need to twist it around to the front if you're wearing it on your backside, or if you wear it in front, you have to do nothing. It's also more convenient to get into it.

That said, however, we are presently stuck with using a backpack, since we have a child in diapers.

We carried an across the chest strap backpack and it worked out great. We carried out digital camera, video camera, and anything else we needed in it. The reason we liked it so much was because it rained so much during our trip that we had ponchos with us, so when it did stop raining we had a place to keep our ponchos instead of carring them with us. Hope this helps!

I prefer to use only the fanny pack when possible. Partially due to security. One afternoon I was heading back into the MK after lunch and the security lines were very long. I simply removed the items from my fanny pack (camera, water bottle, etc.) and crammed them into my pockets then I was able to walk through the line for people without backpacks.

I love my fannypack. Hands free and different compartments so easy to find what I need, bandaids, tickets, hand wipes, small camera, etc.

We do the backpack. It is the best way to share the burden. That way both my fiance and I are comfortable carring it, and it fits any and all souvenirs we buy too. Although I must admit, that he rarely even will let me carry it. Only when he is very tired. So I let him pick out a fancy new one for this upcoming trip.
His favorite bag was actually stolen during our last trip there. It was taken right out of our rental car in the parking lot of a resturaunt offsite! We lost the bag full of souvenirs, a very expensive camera with most of our pictures, a few other things. Not the best night in the happiest place on earth. But thats not going to stop us from going back!!

I got one of these (but in gray) for about $18 at the local mall:

Took it to DL with girlfriend last Valentine's... held my cellphone and camera, both our wallets, ziploc baggies for the electronic stuff when we went on splash mountain, plus park passes, fast passes, anything... AND it's great for puttin my pins on, too!

I admit I did not read all the posts word for word, so someone may of said this:

If you are on site whatever you buy you can request it be sent to your room, it ususally makes it there the next morning, so you gotta wait, but you don't have to carry it.

Just a thought to lose some of the weight in the packs...no it i could do this...hmmmmmm...I'll have this cake no, send the weight to me later...then forget to pickup the package :smooth: ya, this could be a plan, amybe get dh to carry the weight...okay I'm getting too silly....

Sorry aobut the last post, can't type...mostly w, it appears

Connor Dad...shoowing me a bag site, shame on you, I love bags, now I will have a coll bag(s) and no money to buy anything to put in it :goodvibes

I really need to bet a bin to collect trip things in, even with 60+ days I am still colledcting some things.

I found a small bottle of liquid Tide (laundry) for .49. Good to put on stains, (darn dripping Mickey icecream) and cheaper than getting it there.

okay...I'm going to take typing lessons. I cut off my nails and it feels to different, amybe I could not hit that submit button so fast...sorry

My 19 year old college student daughter informed me the other day that "NO WAY" was she using one of those "old lady geek fanny packs" I guess at 49 I must qualify because I am planning on using one. She will carry a small backpack from Wal-Mart with the umbrella, ponchos, nylon jacket etc. We decided her LLBean back pack was just too large. :sunny:

Camera goes around neck on string (tiny digital) cell phone in pocket of hubby's cargo shorts, park passes & money in lanyard around neck, maps-we don't need no stinkin' maps!, etc-leave it in the room.

We travel fast and light. Except for *(&^ :confused3 EPCOT, we can bypass the bag check line.

Cargo shorts are good looking and cool on both genders. Fanny packs, inherently, are not. I call 'em pooch packs, because they're no where near your fanny...

My husband carries the backpack for our cameras and such. I carry a fanny pack for smaller items like trading pins, Disney Dollars, kleenex, hand sanitizer and such.

My DD wears her fanny pack, where she puts her camera, room key, money, lip stuff (lip stuff is the most important thing in the pack!), and I use a backpack/pocketbook for our Brita water bottle, my key and money, my camera, our blister care kit, etc.

We used our LL Bean backpack on our first trip, and DH ended up carrying it around. We actually almost left it behind in EPCOT near American Adventure, which is why I now use my backpack style pocketbook intead. It's smaller, cuter, and has its own compartment for credit cards, cash, license, etc., so I don't need a wallet. Also, I can easily shove it under my feet in rides like Space Mountain, or RnRc where there's no room on the seat or I don't want it to go flying.

I actually have two bags in this style, a Vera Bradley one and a Macy's generic, leather type one. I usually bring the leather one, because its smaller.
