Welcome to the November 2024 exercise thread! I initially didn't think I had a theme for this month, but then this came to me. I think it's safe to say we're all fans of Disney or we wouldn't be on Disboards, right? Well, this month we will have a little ask and share session about our Disney favorites. I'll post a new question every few days asking what your favorite Disney _________ is, and hopefully we'll all feel like sharing our answers so we can all learn a little more about each other over the next few weeks.

If you’re returning, we’re excited to have you back! If you’re new, welcome to the team! Here’s how it works:

Each person chooses a time goal and posts minutes towards that goal as they exercise. You can post daily or just catch up when you can. You decide what movement counts towards your goal - which can be a nice round total for the month, a specific number that means something to you, or a calculation based on a target number of minutes per day. Since November has 30 days, here are some common conversions:

15 minutes/day = 450
20 minutes/day = 600
30 minutes/day = 900
45 minutes/day = 1350
1 hour/day = 1800

One of the special motivations of our Disney challenge is color changing! Page one will be updated with individual and team color changes as we make more and more progress:

10% - Blue
25% - Orange
50% - Purple
75% - Pink
90% - Red
100% - Green

We’re officially starting this challenge on November 1, but if you don’t find the thread until later in the month, you’re still welcome to join! There's no better time than the present to start toward your goals!! Just post your goal and I’ll add you to the list. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions and to check out old threads to see what’s been going on.

Kicking things off with our first question of the month:

What is your favorite Disney tradition?

I have a few that immediately come to mind - 1) the mother-daughter trips CarolineBowmanFan37 and I take 2) going to the Frozen Singalong in HS 3) all 3 of us choosing a new Disney ornament each year 4) decorating our Disney tree for the holidays 5) having an all things Frozen watching marathon on my bday every year

I can't wait to hear what your Disney traditions are!!!!

I'm going to be bold and try for 750. That's only 30 minutes more than last month, so hopefully I'll hit it! It means working out 3 days a week, every week, and at least one 4 day workout week. Hopefully that math makes sense outside of my head and isn't pushing things too much.

My favorite tradition is watching the fireworks from behind the castle. There's so much space! DH & I spread a picnic blanket on the ground and get a great view where you can smell the gunpowder. It's an intense fireworks show, with great music, but none of the projects, puppets, or people, so it's an acquired taste.

I'm going to go for 750 this month. I have 20 minutes so far from Growwithjo yesterday.

We don't have a ton of traditions, but each time we've been to the parks, we like to buy a few pins to commemorate new or favorite experiences. For instance, when we went to Disneyland in 2020, we picked up a Matterhorn pin and a Mr, Toad pin since those rides aren't present in WDW.

I’ll try for 500.

My favourite traditions in the parks are a tie between watching the magic kingdom parade from Tony’s and forcing Twilightsparkle to wait in line for rapunzel pictures.

I’m definitely a fan of rewatching frozen and singing it very loudly. Hoping the neighbours can hear.
I hope we can do the parade thing at Tony's again on our next trip!

LOVE this! We do like the projections for HEA, but we were riding SDMT on our last trip and Enchantment fireworks were happening because of the After Hours event. I remember coming out of the mine to explosions of color overhead. Disney got me with that! It was soooooo magical! I can see how a location like you've described, away from the crush of people, would have a similar feel.

It must be so much fun to go back through the pins and remember why you chose them! I love this tradition!

We were riding BTMRR once during the fireworks and it was fabulous! My DH likes to watch the fireworks from behind the castle at MK. He fondly remembers how he once got a cinder in his eye!

Im in for 375

Not sure on traditions because every trip has been different so far for us. Maybe just all stopping and taking in that first breath of “resort smell” together.
We do have a lot of Disney ornaments and Disney stockings so I guess putting those out for Christmas. And every weekend in December watching some combination of Disney holiday movies and Charlie Brown 😊

In for my usual 600 minutes.

We also have the 'buy an ornament on vacation" tradition - at Disney and on other trips as well. I love decorating the tree and reliving memories!!

Our actual park traditions have changed over the years with DS's age, but one kind of different one we have is always doing the Laugh Floor at MK.

60 minutes at the gym on Saturday. I'm supposed to get another 60 today, but I've been up since 3am (it's 4:30 now) so my day might not go as planned. :P If anyone has pixie dust to fix my middle of the night wide awake state, I'd be grateful. Seems like ever since I made it past 45 sleeping past 4 is rare.

I use a magnesium spray on my hands, feet (those two parts because the veins are close to the surface), and knees (for pain relief) at night. Have been sleeping very well since starting this - except for the times my cat comes in and meows in my face. The brand I use is Alo and it also has valerian added to it. Valerian is an herbal sleep aid. You can drink Valerian in tea form. Chamomile tea would also work as a sleep aid. Magnesium is good because so many of us don't get enough of that in our diet, and it helps with stress, anxiety, pain, central nervous system regulation, etc. It helps you feel calm and relaxed.

Gotta love the first sniff of resort smell! I wish my house smelled like AKL. I know there are candles, but we have a bird so most candles are off limits for us.

Loving the December movie weekends! That's a fun tradition.
