Captain's log, Stardate 10.18.04
Rumblings came from the upstairs bathroom at an ungodly hour. I poked DH to see what was going on. He ventured outside the bedroom to find DSIL and her DH dressed in matching jogging suits, stretching their calves. They have a marathon or something to train for, so they were going running. DH climbed back into bed and muttered something about th em being completely insane.
By the time they got back, DH and I had gotten up and fed DS, who was behaving like a perfect angel. He hardly ever cried and everybody commented on what a happy baby he was.
DSIL pulls the phone book out of the drawer and starts dialing. I look at her DH.
"What's going on?" I ask curiously as she talks on the phone.
"She's got a UTI. She thought she could handle the pain and just take her AZO until we got home but it's killing her and she's really feeling wierded out at the moment. So we're going to a walk in clinic to take care of it."he explained. Oh.
They found a walk in clinic nearby and drove off, leaving Little Bitty in our care. Hmmph. I sat down on the couch to watch TV and held him on one arm, DS on the other.
A hour or so later, they come back and we decide to head over to Aunt Sue's to check out the art museum with her. We're leaving DS (who is napping by this point) with DGrandma and pack everybody else in the two cars we drove up in. 5 min later, DFIL looks back and sees DSIL's Dh turn their car around. DSIL is extremely carsick and decides to stay home. The rest of us (except DH who elected not to go so he could babysit DSIL and the kidlets as well as do laundry)packed into one car and headed over to Aunt Sue's.
We followed her to the art museum where her pieces had been displayed from time to time (did I mention she's a graphic artist? Aunt Sue is an artist.
) and where her DH worked as a security person. We got a quick tour of the grounds and even got to view an exhibit on Egyptian mummies and artifacts in the process of being set up.Oohwow.
We finally arrived home after a few hours of hanging with Sue and her DH,taking numerous pictures of LittleBitty and the assorted relatives. DGrandma had a hot chicken soup on the stove and we had chicken soup and sandwiches for dinner.
DFIL got into an argument with DGrandpa (who is showing the first stages of Alzheimer's and can't remember what he did yesterday, let alone anything else
)about Bush vs Kerry, why Bush should be re elected, yadda yadda yadda. I honestly thought they were going to come to blows until DGrandpa decided he'd had enough and retired to his chair in the living room. Whew. Crisis averted.
