Family Trip - Where should we stay?

Hi all,
I'd love pointers. We're returning for our 3rd (our family) trip to WDW. However, this time we're coming along with the ILs. We'll have our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) and my ILs (2 adults). We're planning a Thanksgiving week trip, so everything is not still available (especially if you recommend something with like one option).

So, with this what would you recommend? Two rooms (CBR is where we're leaning) or a 2bedroom (maybe AKL)? We've stayed in Pop and AKL before. If we went Value I'd rather stay somewhere different. ILs stayed in CBR forever ago when it was the cheapest place (they say) to stay at Disney!

I appreciate any advice or experiences!

If you contemplated getting a Publix (or similiar) Thanksgiving meal to eat in a villa, OKW 2BR would have the largest table, plus the balcony table and chairs.
But the adults could sit at the table in any other 2BR while the kids may have to sit at the counter.
DVC points availability may be running tight by now.

My post may be misleading. We don't care about sitting down for a Thanksgiving dinner. We're just all traveling together Thanksgiving week! We'll have to either do two rooms or a 2 bedroom. But a table fora meal is a non-issue. :)

See, I would go with the 2 bedroom. You get 3 rooms, each of which is larger than a room at CBR, so you are effectively getting 50% more space. You will have 3 tv's instead of 2 and a couch/living room area for relaxing. A coffee machine for mornings and a proper fridge for snacks, etc.

AND indoor hallways. I find the noise levels to be much higher at the resorts with outdoor hallways, value and moderate alike.

In general, Kidani and BLT are the most accommodating 2BR as they have (3) full bathrooms and sleep 9
(Queen pull out couch and chair in the Living room)

Jambo, OKW and VGF also have "sleep 9" capability

I suppose lockoff 2BR at VWL, VGF, BWV and BCV could all sleep 3 kids and 2 adults in the 2nd bedroom with the Murphy bed in the studio.

If the price is not a problem with the 3 kids I would stay AKL just for the laundry.

I would pick two separate rooms. If it were me, I would need my own space to get a break from the in-laws.

A snoring issue makes me wonder if 2 separate rooms would be better!

That sounds amazing if a 2br gives us the same space a 2 individuals. Great!

Yes, I loved doing laundry at AKL last time. I did one or two loads a day and we traveled home with all clean laundry which was amazing!

If price is not an issue I would check to see if the Tree House Villas are available. We are doing a family trip May of 2018 and when I was poking around trying to get information I was SHOCKED when the Tree House Villas showed up as available for several dates during 2017. It looks like a fun option for our family - me and DH, son who will be 16, and son who will be 28 as well as his GF (who might be his fiancee by that time).

We really love the villas and would pick a 2-bedroom villa over two regular rooms anytime. We love having the living room area, kitchen and the washer/dryer. Also the balconies! I just find them so much more comfortable and relaxing. If it's down to 2 rooms at CBR and 2-bedroom at AKV, I would do AKV!! I think the amenities at AKV are so much nicer too - the pools, the restaurants, the atmosphere!

We also have a family of 5 and travel with our inlaws. We love the 2 bedrooms, especially at AKL. We've had the dedicated 2 bedrooms at Kidani and the lock offs in Jambo, and we don't have a preference in layout. Both layouts have the bedrooms are separated by the living space and each room is private. Over all, I prefer Jambo House, even though Kidani does have a 3rd bathroom. My kids are 5, 7, and 8, so they don't need a lot of private bathroom time. My inlaws appreciate having their own coffee maker and mini fridge in their room.

My kids sleep on the pullout couch in the living area, so it serves us as a 3rd bedroom in the evening. It's nice to be able to spread out when we want to. We don't use the stove top much, but it's so nice to have a full fridge for groceries and oven for frozen pizzas or toasting bagels. We use the washer and dryer all week so we can pack less clothes and no one has to sit at guest laundry and wait.

I think that if the 2 bedroom is comfortably within your budget, it's definitely worth doing at least once.

If I was going Thanksgiving week, I would pick an Epcot area resort. We went right before Christmas last year and stayed at the BC. The location was perfect! We could spend time together, go our deprecate ways, plenty of activities close by. It's going to be crowded and not having to wait for a bus all of the time was extremely valuable!! We picked this over MK resorts because it was cheaper. We also found that separate rooms worked best (we did have connecting rooms).

Just noticed your name! We're CU '03,' 03 and '06.
ThankS for the advice too!

What about you staying at AOA in a suite, and have them stay at Pop?

I'd want some alone time personally.
