Thursday, January 19.

Awoke around 8:00 or so. We had a lunch reservation at Cinderella’s Table! DGD had brought along her beautiful Cinderella wedding dress costume which she was going to wear. Weather was sunny, but cool. Took her temperature – hooray! No temp. Gave her a bath and then some breakfast in the room. Also some decongestant for ears which she was still complaining about. Left for MK, using the OKW bus. Came right away and everyone greeted her as “princess.” She did look adorable! Not much of a response and sat rather like a lump – not enjoying the sights from the bus, etc.

Rented stroller for the days we were going to be in the parks. There is a savings if you rent for your whole stay, so we did that. GPA does not quite understand this stroller concept, as he just thinks we will walk, and walk as he and I usually do. Sorry! Made our way down Main Street to the castle and around castle and got a FP for Peter Pan’s ride. It was just the right time after lunch. Went back to the castle and checked in.

Very honestly, DGD is not doing well. Cranky and not really with it. We are trying to be encouraging because they do such a nice job of ushering you in and of having Cindy come into the vestibule to greet her guests and pose for pictures (which you can buy or not.) Our picture of DGD with Cinderella tells it all. It was truly not a good day. We were still using the green gummi bear medicine, but it was not having the same effect. This was one sick little cookie!

Our party is called and we are ushered to our table – greeted as princess and my lord and my lady. Perused menu while keeping a close eye on DGD. By this time, I am thinking hospital/doctor for sure. The meal was just fine, but none of us truly enjoyed it the way we should have. In fact when Wendy came up to the table, she startled DGD so much, that we asked her to go away and not wait for a picture.

The other characters were making their way around the room and we had to explain to DGD that we wanted to take some pictures with her with them. She would not get out of her chair to pose, but did try to smile when they interacted with her. After lunch we went out to find the stroller and used our FP for the Peter Pan ride. That was a hit and she temporarily forgot her ear distress. DGD just loved it! ☺ And we got smiles. Okay.

But decided the better part of valor was to go to First Aid and get directions to the urgent care. We did just that and made our way out of the park to the bus for OKW.

Changed clothes and drove to Florida Hospital CentraCare. It is just around the corner on International Drive – sort of across from The Crossings. We registered and thank goodness for cell phones, as I needed SS # and address, which I did not have with me. Got the paper work all taken care of and was so thankful for the signed (and notarized) permission to treat form. We waited about 45 minutes, but there was a movie on in the waiting room – “Ants” I think and we all watched. They called our name and checked the permission form and said – “good, it is notarized”. Saw Dr. Sanchez and he checked her ears and found them both infected – one worse than the other. I believe if we had not sought treatment it might have perforated. Got prescriptions and instructions. Take it easy for a day and no swimming under water. Okay.

And then we had our miracle! We no sooner walked out of CentraCare and DGD was more peppy than she had been since our arrival. We drove to Walgreens (near the Publix) and while we waited for Rx, DGD and I went shopping. She was very animated and bouncing along. As I said – a miracle. Got the medicine (along with a pair of Cinderella dress-up shoes, some more candy, a princess tote bag, etc.) right around the corner is a McDonald’s, so we said how about it? She said great. Ate all of her chicken fingers and apples. Wow! (GPA had minor stomach upset from something he ate there.)

Back at OKW we prepared to give medicine. Somewhat of a fight, but said it had to be and it would make her feel so much better. Took everything – Three different things. Apple juice and some candy worked just great. “Over the lips and over the gums, look out stomach, here it comes!” worked like a charm the whole time. Then we got ready for bed and some relaxing and sleep for all.

GPA had called again about the egg crate mattresses and they finally delivered some. He put them on the bed. Much better. We truly find those beds so hard, that I just ache and ache the minute I lie down.

In the meantime, I called Central Reservations and told them I had a reservation for the MK Family Fun Tour for tomorrow and could not make it as we had just been to CentraCare and were told to take it easy with DGD. They graciously cancelled us and refunded our payment. A Magical Moment.

Day 4 coming up!

thank goodness for urgent care
Poor little pumpkin to be sick in Disney......thanks for telling us the good things that are out there with pixie dust...

I was hoping she didn't have ear infection, so sorry to hear she did. We used to have a running joke in our family, we could never go on vacation without first checking where the nearest ER hospital was. We sure could have used urgent cares when our kids were little. We always had to rely on ER Rooms.

Sorry that your DGD wound up with a double ear infection. Poor little thing. I hope she bounced back quickly.

Thanks for posting.

Hope your DGD improved quickly ~ Thanx for sharing.
