I was reading a thread and noticed something about the all-you-can-eat family style restuarants. Do they place you w/ a group of people you don't know? We are a family of 3. Due to the cost we usually try to eat only counter service and then go off site for bigger meals. We are doing the silver package and plan to have one really nice meal a day. I am not into the idea of sitting w/ strangers to eat dinner. I really like to be able to relax and have a pleasant meal w/ my family. Did I read the info wrong?

You will be seated at a table with just yo ur family, with the exception of the Luau and HDD. All family style means, is that it's an all-you-can eat establishment, and they bring the food to you. You serve yourself from the platters they provide.

The only other places I can think of that put you with other people are Biergarten and Teppanyaki in Epcot.

I have had 2 family style meals at WDW. One was at Garden Grill, and at that restaurant, you are only seated with your party. We did Hoop Dee Doo, and were seated at a table for 2 - this was family style, also. We were on the lower level at HDD, but I don't recall seeing large groups of strangers, but I may not have been looking. I don't think I would like the idea of eating out of the same serving bowls as strangers (even though you don't eat directly out of the bowl ;) ) - is it just me? You can always aske for more of any of the food options. We asked for more chicken at HDD, as we don't eat beef or pork, and they served ribs as well.

Thank you-- I had read someone's review of ohana's and it sounded like that were sitted at a larger table w/ people they didn't know. I really wanted to go there, but was going to skip it if that were the case.

I have eaten at 'Ohana numerous times and have always been seated at a private table. I did read that there are some larger tables where groups are seated together, that are used when the restaurant gets filled. If you arrive early for dinner this should not be a problem.
