Family style restaurant going solo

I’m debating Liberty Tree Tavern for a 2:30 lunch on a party day in September.

I have no problems at a typical TS restaurant dining alone. I have some pause about dining at an all you care to enjoy/family style TS restaurant, for some reason.

Has anyone done this? Did you feel awkward or that it was worth it?

For lunch you can order off the menu though. You have both menu option OR all-you-care-to-eat.

And no, I wouldn't feel awkward doing AYCTE solo. I've done it. And its lovely! :)

This sounds like a dream to me, not having to worry about my husband getting all the good stuff before I have a chance to go back to the platter for more!
:lmao: Exactly this!

I think I’ll do it. Conquer that fear, and also conquer my fear of doing character dining alone (at Bon Voyage).
Yes, do it! Its awesome! :) I know a lot of people who dine everywhere solo...even character meals!

I have also wondered bout doing character dining alone. I was thinking of Garden Grill for breakfast.
Usually I travel with my daughter and we do breakfast at Tusker during our trip, but I don't think I want to do that one alone.

Do it and have fun. I have only had to do this once on our last trip when everyone got so tired from Animal Kingdom that they were in the rack by 20:00 hours. I went to Whispering Canyon and got the everfull skillet. I did get teased because the ADR was for 6 people and I was the only one that showed up. The waitress was pointing me out and saying SSHHH his imaginary family will get mad. Loved it.

What is it that you're worried about as a solo diner at a family style restaurant? If you're worried about a lot of food, don't be. The trays they bring out are dished based on the number of people its serving.

As someone who went on a solo trip, don’t worry about where to eat or what to eat. I did a combinations of Buffets, character dining, signature and one AYCTE (Whispering Canyon Breakfast).

Enjoy your trip and dont worry about others. I have dined well over 400 - 500 ?? times at Disney and do you know what I remember about the person sitting at the table next to me....NOTHING! If someone offered me $60000000000000000000 to describe ONE person at one restaurant, I would not be able to do it. Trust me, nobody is watching, and if they are, they will forgot 5 minutes later. Do everything you want to do. Order 17 platters of food, take selfies with all the characters, walk around with a goofy hat on and 1/2 a cupcake sticking out of your mouth. Its your money, your vacation...do everything YOU want and have FUN!

I once did Ohana solo. Um.... that was a LOT of food. If they had only given me the pineapple bread, pot stickers, and banana pudding it still would have been worth it!

they do give you a ton of food if you're solo. My son ordered the kid's AYCTE meal as a kid and I ordered an a la carte kid meal at LTT... if you click my dining report you can see what that looked like for a single. That said, it's just hard to break that kind of meal down into smaller portions. I wouldn't worry about being embarrassed, just be prepared to not be able to eat it all! His meal looked AMAZING btw.

Honestly, out of all the meals to do alone I think doing a buffet is the easiest as a solo traveller. Reason being, your up and about back and forth to the buffet. Nobody really notices that youre alone.

Amen to this!! I agree 100%. I go on solo trips often. I enjoy dining solo and have no issues with it at all. Nobody ever gives me a funny look. Even if they did, I honestly dont care. Why would I care what others think anyway? There are many people that go to disney alone. So its not at all unusual to see a solo diner. Do what you want, eat where you want, and have fun!

If you're comfortable eating alone a la carte, then I would let the AYCTE aspect of LTT dissuade you. If it's food quantity/waste that you're worried about, they do bring out a much smaller portion for a single or even 2 people vs. what they bring out for a family of 4 or more. I say go for it, if that's what you're wanting to eat.
